TimeSpring's TimeData software, the only continuous data protection finalist, takes Silver in SQL Server Backup and Recovery category.

TimeSpring® Software Corp. today announced that its TimeData® continuous data protection software was named to the 2006 Products of the Year in the Backup and Recovery category by SearchSQLServer.com. Products were judged by the SearchSQLServer.com editorial staff, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants. The winners were selected based on: Product Innovation; Performance; Ease of Integration into Existing Environments; Ease of Use and Manageability; Functionality and Value.

TimeSpring's TimeData, the only continuous data protection finalist, took the Silver Award. According to SearchSQLServer.com, TimeData "placed second by just a hair" and "it surpassed the number of points received by the Gold Award winner in the performance category." TimeData's point-in-time restores was described as a "top feature" by one judge.

Unlike other backup systems, including Microsoft DPM software, TimeSpring's TimeData continuously captures all data as it changes in real-time to an onsite or offsite repository. There are no protection gaps, no scheduling requirements, no backup related system slowdowns and no backup windows for the administrator to manage.

Among the various CDP products, TimeSpring's TimeData is a "true continuous data protection" solution that automatically captures all data changes in real-time to a time-dimensioned repository. "Near" CDP systems are based on limited snapshot technology that does not capture all changes in real-time, thus leaving users vulnerable to protection gaps. As a file-based application, TimeData is designed to work with Microsoft applications such as SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint Services and NTFS. By recognizing critical application events, such as transaction commits and database checkpoints as they occur, TimeData allows users to restore their applications to full operation faster than is possible with alternative block-based systems.

TimeSpring's TimeData was also honored recently with a top 5-Star rating from the SQL Server Worldwide User Group (SSWUG). The TimeData CDP software was tested by Mr. Stephen Wynkoop, Microsoft SQL Server MVP and SSWUG.org Founder, and rated for Installation, Usage, Support and Real World Usefulness.
