San Mateo, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2007
Infoteria Corporation USA (Infoteria USA) today launched Lingr API and Lingr Radar. Lingr API is a fully open, easy-to-use interface for technical users to build any kind of applications using the purely web-based chat service Lingr as a realtime application platform.
For non-technical users to get inspired by the possibilities of Lingr API, Infoteria USA also released Lingr Radar, the world's first truly-realtime update checker for the web, as an out-of-the-box implementation of the API.
** About Lingr API **
Lingr API is a set of services with which anyone can operate the whole features of Lingr directly from other sites or software programs.
With the API, software developers could build such applications as follows:
- Embedded chat features in blogs or other web sites
- Robots that listen to and react to human utterances
- Realtime online games
- Monitoring tools for Yahoo! Widgets, Mac OS X Dashboard, Google Homepage, etc
- Extensions in browsers such as Firefox
- Interconnected bridges with existing chat networks such as IRC or Skype
- Native chat clients running on Windows or Mac
Using Lingr or Lingr API is free in general, however, commercial uses of API from which we should expect high traffic should be based upon an advance agreement.
Those interested in learning more about Lingr API can visit http://www.lingr.com/developers.
** About Lingr Radar **
Lingr Radar is a software that enables users to maintain their presence in the chat rooms without the browsers. When someone says something in any of monitored rooms, Lingr Radar will immediately catch it, and notify it to the users.
An existing web update checker like RSS reader has been visiting the web sites at a certain interval. On the contrary, Lingr Radar is truly realtime with possibly even lesser loads on both server and client sides, thanks to the technology called Comet.
Everyone is only 4 steps away from being amazed at how it works.
1. Sign up at http://www.lingr.com/signup and keep signed in
4. Enter with any nickname and say something in the room, and you'll immediately see the update with the Lingr Radar icon

** What is Comet? **
Comet is a technique that enables web servers to send messages to the client in a truly realtime manner only using the browser standard HTTP capability.
Traditionally, to use a technique like Comet, developers needed to reinvent web servers based on their purpose, because Comet brought serious scalability problems on web servers. That has been the reason that only developers with highly technical skills could use Comet in their application.
With Lingr API, however, those developers can simply use Lingr as a Comet server and it helps them to be focused on their application.

** What is Lingr? **
Lingr is a web-based chat service with an instant messenger like responsiveness and without any additional software to be installed. You just go to the URL of a chat room, and then you start chatting with people there. You don't need to sign up for chatting unless you want, and you can create your own rooms if you sign up. You can keep the rooms in private - by making it not public and/or password protected.
After its launch in August 2006, Lingr is used in vast range of countries in the world.
