US Congress Goof Leads to Free Tickets For Mediterranean Luxury Homes Raffle

A loophole in the recently passed Internet Gaming Law means that people can get free tickets in a $6.5 million raffle of vacation homes on Mallorca in Spain, Europe's leading holiday destination. No catches, no taxes, no small print, and ten winners will get a key and a deed to properties worth up to $675,000 each.

Scott Properties Inc. of Delaware is exploiting a gap in the new US gaming law in order to offer its clients free tickets in the raffle of ten luxury vacation properties.

For years, the company has offered hotel vouchers good toward a stay in their celebrated boutique hotel on Mallorca, Spain. When the Congress made it difficult for Americans to buy raffle tickets from them, the company decided simply to put numbers on their hotel vouchers so that voucher holders could participate in the raffle free.

So it's win-win-win. Guests buy a voucher they can use in the hotel anytime in the next five years. They then get a free ticket for the raffle. And the company gets lots of business for the hotel at no costs for advertising. The project is legal and legitimate and is under the supervision of independent auditors.
