Lemonade Public Relations Stirs It Up in San Diego

Denise Scatena, a local public relations professional, is now principal and founder of Lemonade Public Relations, based in San Diego, Calif. She provides consulting in the areas of media relations, special events management and community relations. Scatena has extensive experience creating and implementing successful public relations strategies for a variety of industries, including city government, recreation and tourism, performing arts, technology, non-profit and media. An award-winning practitioner, Scatena has extensive experience creating and implementing successful public relations strategies for a variety of industries, including city government, recreation and tourism, performing arts, technology, non-profit and media. Her recent and current clients include Curves for Women, FasTracKids, Mama's Kitchen, California Pizza Kitchen, Tour Coupes, and Drama Kids International. Prior to Lemonade PR, Scatena worked in the local media industry. At Time Warner Cable, she managed the company's signature community outreach initiatives such as San Diego's 50 Best Moms and the Clothes 4 A Cause business suit clothing drive for Alpha Project. With national cable networks such as VH1, Lifetime, National Geographic, Cartoon Network and the Discovery Channel, Scatena brought high-visibility programs and opportunities to local schools and communities. In 2005, Scatena was named the marketing and community development manager for voiceofsandiego.org, the region's online news Web site. Under her leadership, awareness for the online publication was generated among a mainstream audience, partnerships with non-profits and other media were created, and an individual membership program was established.

Scatena's work has been recognized with awards from the Cable Television Public Affairs Association and the Public Relations Society of America, San Diego chapter. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication from San Diego State University in 2005, and her undergraduate degree from Chapman University, in Orange, Calif.
