Extremely Sharp proudly celebrates ten years in business.

Since 1997, Extremely Sharp has evolved from a simple plan to a thriving business. What started out 10 years ago on a small budget has grown into a business far exceeding anyone's expectations. Extremely Sharp is a leader in edged weaponry, self defense supplies and martial arts equipment. The company's mission is to provide the highest quality affordable tools and weapons for training, recreation, skilled use and everyday work activities.

Extremely Sharp, better known as ES or ESKnives, was founded in 1997 as a collaboration between two brothers, Don Uhlir and Kurt Uhlir, looking to spend more time together. The brothers had previously worked together on a variety of ventures but wanted to establish a company that combined their hobbies, opened opportunities for their friends and allowed them to interact with the community.

Don Uhlir, President, was an avid outdoorsman who spent a significant amount of time hiking, camping, fishing, canoeing and participating in other outdoor activities. Kurt Uhlir, Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, actively studied a variety of martial arts with a strong emphasis on Kenpo.

In 1996, these two realized that although their hobbies were different, they actually require many of the same types of equipment: pocket knives, survival knives, multi-purpose tools, batons, staffs and others. Both brothers also had a strong interest in medieval swords and weapons featured in movies.

With the goal of supplying swords, knives, and martial arts equipment, Don and Kurt spent the next several days discussing with friends the possibilities for a new company. The work to launch Extremely Sharp began immediately. Extremely Sharp opened its doors in January 1997 after several months of planning and countless pots of coffee.

"We are thrilled to be celebrating such a significant milestone," said Kurt Uhlir. "It has been a long road, but an exciting one. Along the way we have kept our family, friends and employees involved in our major decisions. They have, and always will be, our real strength. Extremely Sharp is family owned and friend operated."

Another key strength of the company is its connection to the community. Don stays in touch with Extremely Sharp's customers by spending several hours each day directly responding to customer inquiries to ensure that he understands what the consumers are thinking, what they like, and what they do not like. "As we continue to grow, I feel it is more and more important that I stay connected to our customers," stated Don Uhlir.

Extremely Sharp continues to expand the company's offerings to include hunting and fishing knives, camping knives, samurai swords, fantasy swords, movie swords, katanas, practice swords and martial arts supplies for the growing number of its customers' sports. In addition to swords, knives and martial arts equipment, Extremely Sharp now carries self defense products including pepper spray, stun guns, handcuffs, police batons and collapsible/expandable batons for everyone from beginners to experts and many unique offerings such as crossbows, blowguns, throwing stars and other collectibles.
