Capella University (http://www.capella.edu), an accredited, fully online university, has awarded $10,000 scholarships to 10 students interested in Capella's project management specializations. The scholarship was open to students in the university's master of information technology program, master of business administration program, and bachelor's degree in information technology program.
Three of the scholarships were awarded to students who are pursuing a bachelor's degree at Capella. Jessica Anderson of Stockton, Calif.; Darcy Douglas of Park City, Utah; and Leonard Wilson of Eagle, Ind., are studying information technology in the project management specialization.
Four of the scholarship recipients are MBA students in the project management specialization. They are Tadg Corkery of Huntington Beach, Calif; Kelly London of Grand Island, N.Y.; Angela Scott of Willow Grove, Pa.; and John Turner of New Braunfels, Texas.
The final three recipients, Kia Bauer of Coon Rapids, Minn.; P. Marc Schwartz of St. Paul, Minn.; and Victor Wrinn of Ozark, Ala., are students in Capella's master of science in information technology program with a specialization in project management.
Capella's project management specializations provide a strong foundation in project management that may be applied to a wide variety of industries, including, but not limited to, business, information technology, insurance, financial services, engineering, and health care.
"Capella realizes the critical role project managers play in today's corporate environment," said Kurt Linberg, dean of Capella's School of Business and Technology. "We are pleased to be able to contribute to advancing the project management discipline by awarding the scholarships to these dedicated individuals."
The $10,000 awards will be evenly distributed over eight quarters, beginning with the first quarter of 2007.
