Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 29, 2007
Education is the main focus of the Holocaust Memorial Foundation of Illinois (HMFI). In June of 2006, construction began on the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. This center will focus on the education of students, with an estimated 250,000 students visiting the center each year. This initiative of education and devotion to the awareness of the Holocaust led InterAct Public Safety Systems, a leading provider of public safety technology used by local, state, national, and international government agencies, and the Filipowski Foundation to make a charitable contribution.
With this donation, InterAct will be named as a Benefactor of the Humanitarian Awards Dinner, an annual gala put on by the HMFI with roots going back 20 years. This year the focus of the dinner will be the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. The Humanitarian Awards Dinner will be honoring Richard Kiphart, principal and head of corporate finance of William Blair & Company; Michael Krasny, founder and former CEO of CDW Computer Centers and founder and president of the Circle of Service Foundation; and Larry Levy, founder and chairman of Levy Restaurants and chairman and CEO of The Levy Organization. The speaker at the dinner will be the Honorable Madeleine Albright, Former US Secretary of State and Principal of The Albright Group.
"InterAct and the Filipowski Foundation have chosen to sponsor the dinner and foundation because of its fundamental belief in the equality of all persons," said Andrew J. "Flip" Filipowski, executive chairman and CEO of InterAct and founder of the Filipowski Foundation. "InterAct is a leading developer of technology systems dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all people, a mission, that along with the HMFI, we hope to spread."
"We need to build the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center so that children and adults can learn about this pivotal point in history in a meaningful way," said Barbara Carter Berger, director of Donor Relations for the Holocaust Memorial Foundation of Illinois. "Understanding the lessons learned from the hatred and atrocities of the past, we hope, will make a better future for us all. With continued contributions from such great organizations, such as InterAct and the Filipowski Foundation, we feel confident that the goal of establishing this essential museum and education center will be achieved. We are extremely grateful."
