"Social Justice" Sweeps College Campuses

Modern Americana band, Fort Pastor, is bringing more than their socially conscious songs to colleges around the country ... they are bringing an "Army."

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) January 27, 2007 -- Modern Americana band, Fort Pastor, is bringing more than their socially conscious songs to colleges around the country…they are bringing an "Army." The band's own non-profit foundation, The Social Justice Army (SJA), is enlisting recruits at campuses nationwide. The Social Justice Army works through members serving their local communities in an effort towards the realization of a world where all members of society have basic human rights. The band blends their Australian and American roots with charismatic acoustic guitars that are pounded as often as strummed with the odd didgeridoo, darabuka, djembe and mandolin thrown in to create an earthy, soulful whole. However, it's not just the music that is attracting students. This band is a social movement.

Students commit to serving their local communities one hour a month through the Social Justice Army in areas such as homeless shelters, soup kitchens, food banks, etc. "We are seeing so many new chapters of the Army being formed on college campuses," says band front-man Brant Christopher. "We want these kids to understand that they are more than just students. Getting them into their local communities and serving the less fortunate really opens their hearts to the human condition and a side of society that many never see in this country."

Fort Pastor's schedule is filling at a record pace with colleges and universities who want to bring their students a completely unique culturally diverse experience of more than just a concert.
