Labatt Blue USAdult Pond Hockey Championship Brings 80 Adult Recreational Teams to Second Annual Tournament in Eagle River, Wisconsin Feb. 16-18, 2007

Over 80 adult recreational hockey teams from over a dozen states celebrate true blue hockey in its purest form. Teams and spectators are welcome to Eagle River, Snowmobile Capital of the World, to enjoy this winter sport in one of the nation's most beautiful resort areas. The tournament is hosted by USA Hockey and sponsored by Labatt Blue, America's top Canadian beer imported daily from Canada, where hockey was created.

Norwalk, Ct. (PRWEB) January 29, 2007 -- Labatt Blue is inviting the nation's most dedicated pond hockey adult players and spectators to Eagle River, Wisc. for the second annual Labatt Blue Pond Hockey Championship, February 16-18, 2007. Registration is open and will continue until the tournament on a space-available basis; spectators and hockey lovers are welcome.

"We are pleased to be back in Eagle River working with the Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association and Range Beverage on this second annual event. We are expecting about sixty adult recreational hockey teams from a dozen states to brave the cold and experience hockey in its purest form, and we are thrilled to bring this experience back to Eagle River," said Sean Taylor, Labatt Blue Brand Manager, Labatt USA. "This event truly speaks to Canadian beer lovers who know the true blue roots of hockey - this sport belongs on a frozen pond with friends and a case of Labatt Blue chilling in a snow bank."

Taking place on Dollar Lake, the championship features 80 teams of adults 21 years or older divided into eight no-check divisions. The tournament is structured using a round-robin format; each team is guaranteed three games. Players must register and adhere to USA Hockey playing rules for each game, which includes a two-minute warm-up period and two 15-minute halves.

Deadline to register is February 2nd and entry fee per team is $360; additional registrations are on a space-available basis. Rule modifications, registration form, tournament schedule, and lodging details can be found online at www.usahockey.com/adult.

Last year, 41 teams came together from a dozen states and as far away as California, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio, representing hometown adult leagues and local bars with pride. Ford Motor Company Chairman Bill Ford was one of team captains taking home a divisional prize, among others. Ford and his team will be back to defend their trophy in 2007.

The Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship kicks off with a free welcome reception at the Chanticleer Inn, the event's host hotel. Every participant receives a welcome gift, and division winners receive prizes at the end of the tournament - second only to "bragging rights" over a Labatt Blue back at their hometown bar.

Known as the Snowmobile Capital of the World, Eagle River hosts the famous Klondike Days Feb. 16-18, the same weekend as the Championship. Friends and families are welcome to cheer on their team and enjoy the local sights. The Klondike Festival includes lumberjack competitions, cultural expositions and arts and crafts shows.
