Behlman's modified COTS design supports anti-ship and anti-submarine surveillance and targeting helicopter requirements.

Behlman Electronics Inc., known for its leadership in providing power products for military industrial, and commercial applications, has delivered on the promise it made in 1997, when Behlman undertook a unique program to design a power supply to meet performance requirements that some believed were unattainable.

The result is the ultra-rugged Behlman 00389 COTS power supply, a switch mode unit designed and manufactured specifically for high-end military and industrial applications. These power supplies accept three-phase 115/200 VAC, 400 Hz input and deliver up to eight DC outputs including +5 VDC @ 20 A; -5.2 VDC @ 12.5 A; -2 VDC @ 10 A; +8.5 VDC @ 10.6 A; -8.5 VDC @ 3.5 A; +15 VDC @ 16.7 A; -15 VDC @ 1.7 A; and +28 VDC @ 2.7 A. With its many outputs, the Behlman 00389 power supply is able to support a wide range of applications, and is designed to meet the input power requirements of MIL-STD-704 and RTCA-DO160. This power supply will also meet the needs of critical industrial applications requiring utmost reliability and performance.

"Being able to meet the rigorous needs of the U.S. Navy has been a challenging and rewarding experience for us." said Ron Storm, Behlman Electronics' VP of Sales and Marketing. "We are very proud that with our 00389 COTS power supply the Navy will be able to convert the 400 Hz AC power generated by its helicopters into the regulated, low-noise DC power required by a wide range of its mission-critical systems."

Additional features include load regulation; line regulation; over-voltage protection; short-circuit protection; current limit and high efficiency, as well as operating temperatures from -40C to +80C (-40F to + 176F); storage temperatures from -57C to +85C (-70F to + 185F); and applicable MIL Standards for shock, vibration, humidity, and EMI/EMC. At only 30.5 cm wide x 17.8 cm deep x 6 cm high (12"W x 7"D x 2.38"H), and only 2.9 kilograms (6.4 lbs) the Behlman 00389 power supply is easy to install and carry in tight spaces.

Behlman Electronics Inc., a subsidiary of Orbit International Corp., manufactures and sells high quality standard, modified standard, custom and COTS power solutions, including AC power supplies, frequency converters, inverters, DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC, and uninterruptible power supplies.

Orbit International Corp., (NASDAQ:ORBT), based in Hauppauge, New York, is involved in the manufacture of customized electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications.
