Dantel's WebMon Edge Sees Momentum As The Perfect Fit For OSP Enclosures

Telecommunications providers increasingly turn to Dantel to properly monitor remote assets in challenging environments

(PRWEB) January 31, 2007 -- Dantel, Inc. the leader in network surveillance and management systems, announced today that the company has experienced increased adoption of its WebMon Edge by telecommunications providers that recognize the solution as an ideal fit for monitoring Outside Plant (OSP) enclosures.

"Over the past twenty years, telecommunications electronics have become increasingly decentralized, moving ever further from the controlled and protected environment of the Central Office into the OSP," said Dave Lauger, director of business development for Dantel. "The OSP environment contains rain and humidity, dust and pollutants, significant daily and annual temperature swings, wide solar heat-load variations, and physical abuse so reliable monitoring within the enclosures is an absolute necessity. Dantel's WebMon Edge is the perfect fit."

The WebMon Edge is built with industrial grade components allowing for a temperature operating range of -40C to 70C and a humidity range of zero to 95%, non-condensing. The product features an on-board temperature and humidity sensor and recent enhancements include the addition of analog inputs, an Ethernet switch and a fiber optic interface that provides conversion from dual fibers to a single fiber using on-board Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) technology.

"Dantel continues to be at the forefront of our industry, taking a leading role in meeting the constantly evolving needs of telecommunication service providers," said Alan Hutcheson, president and CEO of Dantel. "We understand how critical proper monitoring of remote assets is in this highly competitive industry."

WebMon Edge Features
The WebMon Edge features 8 discrete inputs, 8 analog inputs (optional), 2 form C relay outputs, an on-board temperature and humidity sensor and an optional Ethernet switch and fiber interface. The WebMon detects events, converting and reporting the information in various protocols including SNMP v1, v2c and v3 traps and v2c informs, TL1, or ASCII, and interfaces to HP Open View, Micromuse™ Net Cool® or Dantel's VisionMaster™ or VisionMaster CS (Client Server).

Access is available through wired, wireless and fiber optic networks using Internet and Intranet applications such as: web browser, e-mail, cellular messaging, paging and SNMP messaging (traps).
