Datalight Inc. announced today that Wind River (NASDAQ:WIND) has integrated an evaluation version of FlashFX® Pro version 3.0 with VxWorks Edition 3.4 platforms, which are based on VxWorks 6.4, Wind River's RTOS (real-time operating system). FlashFX Pro makes it simple for software applications to access flash memory, both NOR and NAND, just as they would a hard disk drive, and ensures the disk integrity of the flash array even in the event of unexpected power loss.

In addition, FlashFX Pro offers drop-in support for over 200 flash parts - including NAND, NOR, hybrid flash, and NAND controllers - giving VxWorks developers ultimate design flexibility. The solution has been available since December 2006 through Wind River, and offers VxWorks DSO (device software optimization) developers NAND flash capabilities that previously weren't available.

Wind River's VxWorks Edition platforms provide solid foundations for the development of a wide range of devices, from aerospace and defense applications to networking and consumer electronics gear, robotics and industrial applications, precision medical instruments, and navigation and telematics systems in automobiles.
