The People History Website Expands as A Prime Source for Modern Historical Research
As part of the expansion The People History is helping to create an online social history section including a Visitor's Memories section that allows visitors to leave and share their memories for others to read. The People History Website also includes information covering the last 75 years, along with cost-of-living prices that are not available elsewhere on the Internet.
(PRWEB) February 23, 2007 -- The People History, www.thepeoplehistory.com, a place where people, memories and history join together, has announced the expansion of its Website, now offering even more useful historical information for modern history research. The People History Website includes information covering the last 75 years, along with cost-of-living prices that are not available elsewhere on the Internet.
People are more frequently turning to the Internet as a prime source when gathering information for research. The People History allows students and others to easily collect facts from 1920 to 2006 on topics including world events, technology, popular culture, music, cost of living, wages and the value of money. People can make price comparisons between the decades or research events of a specific year.
"We are extremely excited to be a resource for people to find useful information about history, not only to gather valuable information about history, but also to read real-life accounts from people's memories," said Stephen Pearson, founder of The People History.
As part of the Websites expansion The People History is helping to create an online social history section including a Visitor's Memories section that allows visitors to leave and share their memories for others to read. Unlike other places on the Internet, visitors are not asked to enter their email address when posting and can post entries using their own name or remain anonymous. The memory forums available to post memory excerpts are easy to use and include options to attach photographs. Users may also upload memory excerpts from any word processing document.
"What really makes up history are the facts about our daily lives," says Mr. Pearson. "Things like food prices and the price of an automobile have a large impact on how we live our lives. We have provided a forum for people to document their memories of history, which is something very different from what you would find in a textbook. The information stretches back as far as the time of the great depression in the 1930s."
The People History has uniquely obtained its information about historical pricing from sources such as newspaper advertisements from the past. They offer information on historical facts and real-world memories not otherwise available on the Internet.
As the site grows it will leave behind an online social history created by the people who lived that history and provide an insight into how lives have been changed through social, economic and technical changes over the last 75 years for each new generation to be able to understand how in real terms life has changed.
