BURLINGTON, ONTARIO, CANADA (PRWEB) February 5, 2007 -- The Avantis unit of Invensys Process Systems announced today that Processing magazine has named its Avantis.DSS asset management decision support software as a "Breakthrough Product of 2006." The Avantis.DSS software transforms data into meaningful, actionable business analytics and Processing magazine recognized the Avantis product for being an effective solution for decision support in the plant.
"It is with great pleasure that I recognize the Avantis.DSS solution as a Breakthrough Product for 2006. The Processing Breakthrough Product of the Year Award recognizes the innovative products and technology that we expect will have a significant impact on the process industries for years to come, and the Avantis.DSS software certainly fits into that category," said Dennis VanMilligen, editor of Processing magazine. "Avantis.DSS was the only software selected for this distinction, and this is the second year in a row that an Invensys Avantis product has won the award."
The Avantis.DSS software has three primary components: data extraction, aggregation, and visualization. The data extraction component, built on Microsoft technology, extracts and transforms data for application-specific analysis. The aggregation component aggregates data into cubes for easier manipulation. And, the visualization component uses Microsoft Office Web components to manipulate and display KPIs on industry standard dashboards.
"Our customer research tells us customers want help in making sense of volumes of data that their increasingly powerful operations technology makes available to them. We brought Avantis.DSS software to market to meet this need, providing tools, interfaces, and processing that converts data to the information and knowledge they need to make strategic, timely asset management decisions. We are truly honored that Processing magazine has recognized us for this effort," said John Derbyshire, President, Global Solutions, Invensys Process Systems.
