Is Podcasting the Way Forward for Marketers?

Podcasting could be the way forward for Internet business owners as it offers a cheap and accessible way of reaching a target audience. The podcasts are easy to produce, readable across a range of languages and available in audio or video format.

Hampshire, United Kingdom (PRWEB) February 1, 2007 -- Humdrumlife.com, Home Online Business Information Centre urges Internet business owners to seriously consider using podcasts to market their business. Originally begun as a way for people to broadcast their own radio programs podcasting is a new experience for many, and has recently garnered the attention of advertisers looking for an economical way of marketing their products to a targeted audience.

Since the first podcast in 2001, numerous channels have opened to allow anyone to get their virtual message out to the public. Many websites are using podcasting to improve the quality of the messages about their products going to the public or to a specific audience.

Anyone with a computer, the right software and hardware and a little instruction can produce their own podcast and get it channelled to prospective customers. For those attempting to “sell” something they could essentially create their own infomercial and make it available on their website for interested visitors to view information in an
audio and video format.

By using Real Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds, site owners can offer syndication of their message, making it available on a multitude of channels for prospective viewers to access at their convenience, kind of like a commercial on demand. Indeed, with so many sites offering RSS feeds, messages could be available from sites allowing targeted marketing instead of the shotgun approach so familiar to web marketing.

From a marketing point of view, podcasting could be the next best thing since pockets on jeans. Internet business owners can contract with a site that defines what a widget is, and when someone visits that site trying to learn about widgets, a 30-second commercial about their company and the advantages of their widgets plays, either as an audio or video podcast. This gets their commercial directly distributed to a viewer with a specific interest in their product.

Since the programming language used to distribute podcasts, Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) is readable across a wide range of languages; it assures the message will be understandable, regardless of the format of the equipment receiving the message.
