Georgia's Governor Sunny Perdue Strengthens Quail Conservation with Quail Unlimited

Governor Sunny Perdue attended the Quail Unlimited Chevy Truck Invitational to raise conservation dollars for the restoration of the wild quail. His attendance and support helped raise $300,000 for on the ground habitat projects.

Edgefield, SC (PRWEB) February 4, 2007 -- Governor Sunny Perdue, an avid quail enthusiast and very strong conservationist, attended the annual premier fund raiser of Quail Unlimited (QU), the nation's largest quail and upland game conservation organization, in Albany, Georgia. The Quail Unlimited Chevy Truck Invitational Celebrity Hunt, held in January, raised $300,000 critically needed dollars that benefit on the ground quail habitat projects throughout the country through and with local QU chapters. The Invitational's sole purpose is to raise dollars for quail and upland wildlife habitat improvement on private, state and federal lands as well as increased research and awareness education on key environmental issues. Quail Unlimited's Rocky Evans, President and co-founder, stated "Governor Perdue brings his unselfish passion for the outdoors and quail specifically, to a whole new level with his dedicated support of Quail Unlimited's efforts and it's mission to improve quail habitat and populations, not only in Georgia, but nation wide. The annual Quail Unlimited Chevy Truck Invitational Celebrity Hunt is considered by the outdoor industry as the best and largest experience of the hunting tradition and premier wing shooting existing today. The coveted limited invitations are sought by the attending country music, National Football League, Major League Baseball, NASCAR and television stars as well as supportive members of state and federal dignitaries like Governor Perdue. Two hundred fifty lucky outdoorsman get to hunt with the special guests, an experience second only to the hunt itself. With some 1,400 enthusiasts attending the Budweiser Gala Finale, including getting a view of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales brought in specifically for the event from St. Louis, Missouri, this is always a time to remember. Quail Unlimited (QU) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the restoration of habitat for wild quail. Its almost 300 chapters nationwide raise local project dollars for on-the-ground projects, including private and public land management with banquets, auctions, sporting clay events and more. QU has a highly trained staff of biologists, state and regional directors and dedicated members that work with private landowners and state and federal agencies to restore quail populations.
