2007 was 'Year of the Blogger' at CES, 'Keep an Eye Out in 2008' Experts Say

Bloggers have come a long way in the past few years. As recently as the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show, bloggers were not eligible for press passes unless they had credentials from another verified media outlet/source. This year, they were in every press room. Blogger lounges and parties were plentiful, and the expectation is that every major exhibitor will be doing something to engage the bloggers by next year.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 5, 2007 -- Bloggers, podcasters and geeks of all stripes descended here last month for the 40th annual Consumer Electronics Show. Last year, the bloggers were the convention's best-kept secret. But this year, they were the biggest breakout hit.

To celebrate the growing influence of consumer-generated media over the consumer electronics industry, Parnassus Ventures threw their first annual blogger reception. The "It Won't Stay in Vegas" party was a smashing success and drew bloggers from far and wide.

"I see bloggers becoming increasingly important in consumer electronics marketing," said Daniel Graham, head of public relations for Monster Cable, which sponsored the party and offered press passes for their annual Retailer Awards show and concert to all the bloggers in attendance.

"Every year we invite members of the press to our retailer awards and concert. We recognize bloggers as important members of the press and we are glad that they could join us at the concert," said Graham.

"Very cool event. I'm glad the Blog Business Summit put it on," wrote Sidebar Geek Brandon LeBlanc of the party.

"We had a great time at the Blog Business Summit's party at the Atomic Testing Museum," wrote Jeremiah Owyang, whose company, PodTech was responsible for the very successful Bloghaus blogger lounge.

"Bloghaus exceeded our expectations as a place to reach out to a diverse group of influentials and produce and upload hundreds of pictures, videos, podcasts and blogposts during CES 2007," said PodTech's Maryam Scoble. "A bunch of thanks to all the bloggers, journalists, conference attendees, and vendors who participated!"

In addition to its party, Parnassus Ventures has launched a news hub, CESbloggers.com, that aggregates snippets of posts from hundreds of bloggy sources about all the goings on at CES.

"We wanted to get a real zeitgeist of the blogger buzz," explained Steve Broback, president and founder of Parnassus. "This was a way to keep our fingers on the pulse of the blogosphere at CES while giving some link love back to all the bloggers who were sharing their observations, reviews and experiences with the world."

With so much blogger buzz this year, what will the CES landscape look like next year?

"We're predicting big things," said Broback. "That's why we plan to be front and center at CES '08 with our second big blogger bash. It's going to get really interesting, so if you want the real story from CES 2008, keep an eye on the blogs."

About Parnassus Ventures: Parnassus Ventures is the firm behind the acclaimed Blog Business Summit conference series. They are actively seeking sponsors for next year's CES blogger party.
