The Tailgate Guy speaks Out On the Insanity in Miami

50 thousand tailgaters headed for Miami won't have a blacktop to grill on.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 3, 2007 -- Tailgating uber-chef and ambassador to the blacktop Jay DiEugenio, also known to millions of tailgating pro football fans as "The Tailgate Guy", is hickory smokin' pissed. After two seasons of crisscrossing the country and tailgating with fans at virtually every stadium in the NFL, Jay is ending his dream tour with a dud. He and forty-five thousand of his grilling brethren currently en route to south Florida will not find a place to park their grills this Super Sunday. All of the things that make tailgating --- well, tailgating --- have been banned.

"It's been a tough season for tailgating," comments DiEugenio as he ponders his cold, lifeless grill. "First Penn State shuts down parties during the game, and now the NFL bans tailgating at the Super Bowl. Tailgating is not a crime!"

The Commish, another one of tailgating's revered grill masters, called Jay on Wednesday to say, "Jay, if I wasn't here already, I wouldn't be coming down."

The NFL (now dubbed the No Fun League) and officials in Miami blame security concerns for their party-squashing policies, but the numbers ($$$) suggest a different story. Much of the stadium's parking lot will be occupied by the interactive NFL Experience ($15 to enter) and the "official" NFL Tailgate Party for Owners, Sponsors, Licensees and VIP's.

Meanwhile, real fans like the season ticket holders from Chicago and Indianapolis who are driving their "spirit" buses to Miami just to support their teams aren't going to get within 11 miles of the stadium. "I think it's a big mistake," says DiEugenio, "There's an energy created in a tailgating lot where you've got fans so passionate about their teams coming together to party with people they've never met before. There's nothing like it. The league is turning its back on fans who aren't likely to forget it next season."

Despite the diss, it won't stop The Tailgate Guy from grilling like a madman on Sunday. On the menu: The Essential Bears Brats, Indy's Own Tenderloin Sandwich, and the drink he invented in honor of the not-so-host city, the XLI Rum End-Runner. Find these and many of the greatest tailgating recipe's in football history in "I Got Your Tailgate Party Right Here!" at http://www.yourtailgateparty.com.
