New Book Reveals Real Food for Real College Students

This book is for every student, in every college, all across the world. G.P. McDonald has taken his time in collecting and putting down on paper every recipe and side dish he has lived on during his ten-year odyssey known as "higher education." Share in the wonderful delight of such delicious meals as Noodles ala Maize, Burrito Hash, and his personal favorite - Nappy's with Cheese. These fifty recipes are guaranteed to please and keep the penniless college student's belly full.

Peoria, IL and Denver, CO (PRWEB) February 6, 2007 -- For Immediate Release: Outskirts Press, Inc. is pleased to bring you The Real College Cookbook by G. P. McDonald. Unlike many of the so-called "starving student" cookbooks on the market, this book highlights realistic food and beverage recipes that any college student can successfully survive on--the kind of food that even the poorest, laziest, or most time-constrained scholar will be motivated to whip up in the kitchen or dorm room. McDonald shares his inspiration:

"When I started out years ago, a friend gave me a cookbook that was supposedly geared toward college students. As I looked through the highly priced, glossy text of the book, I began to think just how little this author knew about college students. The recipes were elaborate and time consuming. I knew there had to be an easier way, so I began to make my own meals from cheap ingredients and side dishes. I found what I liked and toyed around with the rest.... Little recipes and meals started to come about; these were dishes that were easy to make and food that would fill the belly until the next bland dining hall meal. I survived, and that's what college students do--they survive on less. The book my friend gave me was colorful, fancy, and nice to look at, but it didn't contain a single item my friends or I would ever make. As I moved on, from school to school, I began to compile my own list…"

The Real College Cookbook is more than just a recipe collection; it contains the author's account of his own ten-year quest for a college degree. From city to city, school to school, McDonald provides a very personal narrative of his educational odyssey and the food--or food substitutes--that he came to develop over the many years. From main courses such as Nappy with Cheese, Adult Eggs, and Pub Crawlers to delicious dessert-like creations including Sugar Tortillas and Studio Pie, the recipes will surely satisfy the belly without breaking the budget. For those students over 21, there is a bevy of beverages from Beer Cubes to Drunk Joe's Punch to a very non-traditional "Carbondale" Martini. This book should be packed into the suitcase of every young, bright-eyed student about to leave home for the first time. McDonald delivers the recipes and encourages the college student to save their pitiful savings on the good things in school--whatever they may be.
