Doug and Susanna Harrison, founders of The SCOOTER Store, have received the Society Award from the American Cancer Society for their years of commitment to aiding the fight against cancer. The SCOOTER Store also shared in the award for the contributions made by its employees.

The award was made at the Huntsman's Ball, which raised more than $150,000 for the Comal County Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

"We presented this award to Doug and Susanna for their years of hard work, helping raise funds to help cancer patients," said Tim Zipp, president of the Comal County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. "Many cancer patients have been helped because of the commitment that Doug and Susanna have made to help others."

Mr. Harrison, who is the CEO of The SCOOTER Store, said that he and his wife have always believed in helping others, by contributing power wheelchairs to those who lack mobility. "We are pleased that our contributions to this worthy cause have been able to relieve some of the pain and agony that cancer can cause," Mr. Harrison said. "We look forward to continuing our work in this area in the future."

The Comal County Chapter of the American Cancer Society runs programs such as the Road Recovery, which provides transportation for local cancer patients to get to treatment programs; Look Good ... Feel Good, which supplies women receiving cancer treatments with wigs, makeovers and cosmetology advice; Reach to Recovery, a breast cancer support group; and Man to Man, a support group for men with prostate cancer.

Moreover, Mr. Zipp said that their cancer awareness programs are implemented throughout Comal and New Braunfels Independent school districts.
