Criminals, CEOs, and First Graders Share Online Education Experiences

As Online Classes Go Mainstream, Individuals and Business Leaders Learn How to Use Them And How to Avoid Scams

Mount Jackson, VA (PRWEB) February 8, 2007 -- With the mainstreaming of online education, individuals and businesses are learning how to take advantage of economical, convenient education.

"It's not just individuals who are considering the viability of online education," says Susan Deane, author of "Online Education: Is It for You?", who was recently interviewed on The Inside Business Success Show, "many businesses are using online classes as an economic way to train their workers."

Susan Deane not only completed her degree online while working, she has now been teaching and developing online courses for the past five years. Deane tells us that as 'online degrees' are becoming more credible, she is seeing top business leaders getting them and sending their people to online classrooms.

Bill Pepicello, president of the University of Phoenix, believes Online Education is an effective way to provide additional academic support to all sectors of society.

Online K-12 public schools are a concept now practiced in 18 states by 150+ virtual charter schools serving more than 65,000 students.

A House of Delegates panel in Virginia endorsed one bill January 2007 that could give inmates the opportunity to pursue college degrees online since internet access is currently restricted.

In its 2006 State of the Industry Report, the American Society for Training & Development found that among large Fortune 500 companies and public sector organizations, online learning accounted for 36.9% of all company-sponsored training. And when only technology-based learning was considered, that figure jumped to around 60%. These statistics seems really high - could they possibly be including computer-based training (such as CD's) and not just online training?

Many businesses need savvy, educated workers. A worker who can handle online coursework not only becomes more valuable because of that education, but since about 90% of online learning is self-paced, successful students also prove that they are what almost every resume
advertises; a 'self-starter'.

Deane shared a simple list of questions during her interview to see if online based education is right for you (or your employees), as well as;

- pitfalls and traps to avoid
- common myths about online training
- how to overcome the fears of getting an online degree
- an easy way to avoid fake degree scams
- how to validate your business experience to receive your diploma in less time
- what it takes to easily fit online degrees into even the busiest of schedules

The podcast recording of Susan Deane's interview, hosted by Jan Schleicher, is available at no cost and a transcript is being made.
