An Exploration of the Female Psyche--but with Martinis

Internationally recognized painter Carol Carter is mounting a tandem exhibition that explores the duality between "good girls" and "bad girls". The two-part exhibition provides a tantalizing view of the female psyche struggling to maintain identity in the face of relationship struggles, social expectations and aging...but with martinis.

St. Louis, Missouri (PRWEB) February 8, 2007 -- Internationally recognized painter Carol Carter is mounting a tandem exhibition in February 2007 that explores the duality between "good girls" and "bad girls". The unusual format for the show, which will be held in two separate venues with two separate opening receptions, is designed to emphasize the theme.

The first opening, for the "Good Girl" portion of the exhibition, will be held on a Saturday afternoon at a local coffeehouse and will feature the more demure paintings in the group. Exquisitely executed small-scale watercolors, the "Good Girl" paintings feature Carter's trademark female swimmers. These introspective works are more intimate and have a vivid color palette. Held in the afternoon and serving sweets and non-alcoholic beverages, the Good Girl exhibition is family-friendly.

The second opening, two weeks later, will be held in Carol's studio/gallery. This event, showcasing the "Bad Girl" portion of the exhibition, will be held at night and hosted by Van Gogh's, a martini bar across the street from Carter's studio. The "Bad Girl" paintings also feature female figures in water settings, but are larger-scale and more explicit. These psychologically charged images deal with issues of sexuality, sensuality, exhibitionism and voyeurism...with a dash of humor.

The two-part exhibition provides a tantalizing view of the feminine psyche struggling to maintain identity and focus in the face of relationship struggles, social expectations and aging...but with martinis.
