Flyleaf Selects Scarlet Fade as Winner of Ellio's Rock Star Challenge Online Celebration of Music Confirms Ellio's is More Than "Just a Pizza"
After months of heated competition and more than 53,000 votes, Scarlet Fade stands alone as the winner of Ellio's Rock Star Challenge. The Bristol, Conn., sibling quartet emerged as one of the hottest acts in the online battle of the bands that allowed teens to create music, listen to other bands, post comments, and vote for their favorites. Among the top five vote-getters, Scarlet Fade was selected by Flyleaf - an indie band growing in national popularity with their self-titled debut-album - and is ready to collect the grand prize: a three-day recording session with a professional producer.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) February 7, 2007 -- After months of heated competition and more than 53,000 votes, Scarlet Fade stands alone as the winner of Ellio's Rock Star Challenge.
When online voting for Ellio's Rock Star Challenge ended on January 31, 2007, the five bands that received the most votes from online fans advanced to the final round. The Mystery Tramps, Stereo Skyline, The Rising Sons, and Capitol Risk joined Scarlet Fade in making the cut, and all are featured on www.elliosrockstar.com.
"Millions of good bands are out there and it takes a unique passion, honesty, and humility to make a band stand out among the rest," said Lacey Mosley, lead singer for Flyleaf. "There is something in the combination of the members of Scarlet Fade that pulls your heart into the song. As artists we want more than just to entertain, we want to inspire - and this band is making that kind of art."
Scarlet Fade is flying high; thrilled to be the first Ellio's Rock Stars. The New England band is a family project - Ali, 18, sings lead vocals, plays the bass and the keyboard; Jordan, 16, sings vocals, plays electric and acoustic guitars; Jaimee, 13, sings background vocals, plays keyboard; and Jake, 10, sings background vocals and plays the drums.
"When we got the call saying we won, we almost didn't believe it," said Ali. "We spend so much time practicing our music, which is what we love to do, that it's great to be recognized by Ellio's."
The six-month contest was open to all teen garage bands and individual musicians ages 13 to 20. Representatives of Ellio's, the maker of delicious frozen pizzas for more than 40 years, were excited that the Rock Star Challenge became an online phenomenon.
"The contest catapulted teen bands from local garages to a national stage with listeners and DJs in top music markets and online exposure wherever an Internet connection exists," said Susan Pilcher, Ellio's brand manager.
Musicians were not the only ones to benefit. Fans who commented on or voted for their favorite bands were automatically entered into a sweepstakes. In all, Ellio's awarded lucky visitors with a Gibson Les Paul Studio Guitar, Klipsch iGroove Stereo Systems, 30GB Apple iPods, iTunes gift certificates, and coupons for free Ellio's Microwave Cheese Pizza.
While today's teens have grown up loving Ellio's unique sauce and end-to-end toppings, Ellio's Microwave Cheese Pizza makes it even easier for teen musicians and music fans to have a quality snack during practices or while listening to their favorite tunes.
Whatever the activity, Ellio's Microwave Cheese Pizza is a perfect fit with the teen lifestyle.
"Teens want to spend their free time having fun, not on food preparation," said Pilcher. "Popping an Ellio's Pizza into the microwave is a simple and convenient way to get a delicious snack by a brand they know and love."
