Harbor Research to Announce New Pervasive Internet/M2M Coverage

Harbor Research to announce new Pervasive Internet/M2M Venue Coverage at its Smart Services Forum in San Francisco Feb. 14-15.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2007 -- Harbor Research Inc., the world's leading provider of strategic consulting and research services for the fast-developing Pervasive Internet/M2M sector, announces at its Smart Services Forum on February 14-15 in San Francisco the most ambitious and comprehensive research program to cover this increasingly important sector.

To date, Harbor has tracked and researched 8 key venues in the market (Buildings, Consumer, Energy, Industrial, Medical, Retail, Security and Transportation) comprising over 300 different device types that are increasingly being connected to the Internet using a variety of wireless and wireline technologies. This announcement increases this to 9 by adding the IT & Networks venue -- an area that is rapidly gaining interest with the need for constant monitoring of critical data centers, carrier network infrastructure and enterprise-based IT and communications assets.

These changes are being reflected in a new version of the firm's popular Venue Segmentation Map that Harbor is issuing at the conference. This provides a definitive breakdown of the Pervasive Internet/M2M landscape, covering all key sectors, application groups and device types that collectively form the market opportunities in the business.

These changes will be accompanied by a full set of reports -- one for each venue -- that will be issued during the course of this year. Also included in the set will be Harbor's annual forecast report of the Pervasive Internet/M2M market, which will again cover all wireless and wireline technologies (including Fixed Ethernet and PLC as well as cellular, satellite, WiMAX/WiFi and short range technologies such as Bluetooth, ZigBee and RFID), but this year will report a higher level of granularity for each technology type.

"We already provide the most comprehensive coverage of the Pervasive Internet/M2M market available today. With these changes we are pushing the envelope out further and covering a wide range of new applications that have previously not been reported by anyone," commented Robin Duke-Woolley, Managing Director of Harbor Research Europe and the firm's Research Director of the worldwide research program. "However, we are not doing this just for the sake of it. At Harbor, we believe that this type of research has a purpose, which is to support business development for our clients. All of Harbor's services are geared to the objective of increasing our clients' business opportunities." Research reports are available individually from Harbor Research or as part of an annual subscription to Harbor's Retainer Service, which the firm has also recently redesigned to better support the business objectives of its clients.
