Police and Fire Departments Install Mobile Wireless Mesh Communication Allowing Interoperable and Interagency Communication

Santa Ana, CA headquartered Global Mesh Technologies awarded a one year renewable contract by the Santa Ana Police Department to provide Mobile Wireless Mesh Network Communication Technology to Police/Fire vehicles and Mobile Command Centers.

Santa Ana, CA (PRWEB) February 9, 2007 -- Global Mesh Technologies, a division of Large Screen Display Rentals, LLC won a competitive bid for a one year renewable contract by the City of Santa Ana Police Department to provide its CAMMS™ "Command Anywhere Mobile Mesh Software" to the city's police/fire vehicles and mobile command centers. The contract was awarded under a Federal Department of Homeland Security (FDHS) grant with the ultimate intent to provide interoperable communication technology to every jurisdiction in the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI). The objective of UASI is to enhance security and overall preparedness to prevent, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism. Global Mesh Technologies implementation of interoperable mesh communications among emergency first responders furthers these objectives. Public Safety vehicles are already equipped with wireless computers, but have limited ability to share data at the emergency site.

The Global Mesh Technologies solution, CAMMS™ alleviates this communication issue enabling interoperable data exchange among all CAMMS™ enabled emergency first responders, including the ability to exchange text messages, file-sharing, maps, photographs, interactive white boarding and video.

CAMMS™ is a software and hardware package developed by Global Mesh Technologies that enables a wireless "mesh" network to be established on an ad-hoc self forming/self healing basis, between any two or more vehicles equipped with CAMMS™. CAMMS™ is designed primarily for crisis-response agencies, allowing them to create a communication network among first responders to an incident, without the need for any fixed infrastructure. Once a mesh network has been created, CAMMS™ provides file-sharing, Instant Messaging, Interactive White-Boarding, and automatic detection and display of streaming IP camera feeds to all units in the mesh.

Global Mesh Technologies President Jerry Underhill states "The need for instant and reliable communication among first responders to a crisis situation is critical. The September 11th attacks and hurricane Katrina proved a real eye opener to these needs. Our primary goal is increasing safety for our nation's first responders and enhancing their existing technology to help protect our communities."

Global Mesh Technologies will begin implementation of the contract immediately and expects to complete the initial installation by March 31, 2007.

About Global Mesh Technologies
Global Mesh Technologies (GMT) was formed to leverage products developed by our parent company, Large Screen Display Rentals LLC (LSDR). LSDR designs, engineers and manufactures custom large format video & data display systems and services both national and international customers. These systems are used primarily in command and control environments to display and share information. LSDR has manufactured systems for the National Hurricane Center, Dept. of Homeland Security, fire and police dispatch centers & utilities companies.

GMT developed CAMMS™ (Command Anywhere Mobile Mesh Software) to enable interoperable communications. CAMMS™ software enables public safety agencies to communicate seamlessly through a totally secure, scalable mobile mesh (ad hoc) network. Local, state and federal agencies can share information in real time, anywhere.

CAMMS™ mobile mesh software, used in conjunction with off-the-shelf networking hardware and standard Windows notebook, hand-held or tablet computers enables broadband mobile mesh. The CAMMS™ software controls the networking hardware to establish an ad hoc, self-forming, self-healing network and provides an easy-to-use interface to enable non-technical users to make full use of the capabilities of the software: share live digital video, white boarding, instant messaging, file sharing and more.

Global Mesh Technologies will be demonstrating its CAMMS™ product at the Association of Public Communications Officers (APCO) Conference at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, CA on February 27 and 28, 2007. www.globalmeshtec.com
