Folk Singing Peace Prayer by Lisa Dudley Begins It's Way Around the World

"Bring Em Home Lord" is a song by folk singer, Lisa Dudley, to be distributed for free in hopes of a world-wide musical peace prayer. The song is available for podcasts, radio, downloads, and posts through Lisa Dudley's website and myspace site.

Woodstock, NY (PRWEB) February 10, 2007 -- Lisa Dudley is a folk singer who carries on the traditions of the 60's peace protesters with her new song, "Bring 'Em Home Lord", which is available for free download from her myspace page and website in hopes of the worldwide sharing of the tune. By this sharing and spreading of the words of her original song, Lisa Dudley hopes to create a universal prayer of peace. The release of "Bring 'Em Home Lord" could not be more timely. Especially after CNN's coverage of our current state of affairs in the Iraqui War.

The story on CNN began, "There have been 3,368 coalition deaths -- 3,114 Americans, two Australians, 131 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, six Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 32 Italians, one Kazakh, three Latvian, 18 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians -- in the war in Iraq as of February 8, 2007."

This is war. These brave people died because they believe in the cause, they believe in their countries, and they believe they are doing the right thing. This is bravery in the largest sense of the word. These are people fighting not only to protect the safety of the lives of their countrymen and women, they believe they are fighting for justice in a land where there is only anarchy. As the story on CNN.com continues, one scrolls down to smiling faces of soldiers who've laid down their lives. There are pictures of men who were in the prime of military lives, some close to retirement in their early fifties, some in their thirties who will not see their children graduate from high school. Looking down the list, a face so brilliant and young is shown, one would think it was mistakenly put in the line-up of casualties of war. He was a 20 year old Private-First-Class from Spartanburg, SC. He looks to be just a boy. This brave young man died in a fire caused by a ricocheting bullet in a building in Bagdad. This was not a combat death. This was just a routine small arms exercise, in which a young man lost his life.

There is a handsome 24 year old from Seattle who lost his life when the barrel of his .50 caliber weapon mounted on his tank struck him. There was the Marine killed in a vehicle incident during combat. He was from Las Vegas…19 years old. The 20 year old Hispanic kid who lost his life in an ambush in Iraq, won't have to worry about racial profiling in his hometown of Granado, Texas. One Master Sgt of German heritage, won't reach his 40th birthday, because his location in Mosul was hit by multiple grenade rockets. Roadside bombs, ambushes, rockets, grenades, and vehicular accidents continue on and on. When they are anonymous statistics, politically correctly shielded from our delicate civilian eyes, it seems bad, but not horrific. When we force ourselves to look at the faces, the names, the ages, the hometowns, we are left with a pain in our chests. We choke back a heart cry as we realize the real human beings behind the numbers.

When one prays for peace, it by no means belittles the high price paid for our safety. It honors the sacrifice, but it mourns the sacrifice, too. At a recent peace rally, one song became a chorus by the crowd. It was a musical prayer by folk artist, Lisa Dudley, called "Bring 'Em Home, Lord". There were many songs sung at this rally, but only this one became a group sing by the choir of peaceful protesters. Lisa Dudley was so touched by the story of the crowd singing her prayer of peace, she has made it available for free download from her MySpace page, www.myspace.com/lisadudley . It is her hope by making this song available and encouraging the free sharing of it, that it will circle the globe through email chains and blogs creating a prayer of peace in the universe.

To Lisa Dudley, this song is not about an artist's career. She was born the child of a military family, a military brat, so-to-speak. She knows by personal experience the feeling a military family man has as he fulfills his duty, completing his orders with honor. She also knows the feeling of waiting for letters, the word that a family member is still safe. She has known first hand praying for a family member to come home.
