Entrepreneurs Say Ciao to Gelato and Goodbye to Ice Cream Franchises

Gelato, a healthier and better tasting alternative to ice cream, is replacing ice cream in the hearts of entrepreneurs looking to enter the multi-billion dollar industry. GelatoPro Consulting announces new services including start-up consulting.

New York, NY (PRWEB) February 15, 2007 -- Ice cream franchises are losing momentum as entrepreneurs are seeing a tastier alternative in gelato shops. A recent shift in the American restaurant industry towards healthier foods has many entrepreneurs focusing on gelato over ice cream.

"Gelato has little or no fat, much lower carbohydrates and an overall better taste than ice cream," Al Ronzo, a 20 year veteran of the ice cream and gelato industry explains. "As better quality gelato becomes available in the United States there will be a noticeable shift in popularity between ice cream and gelato," Ronzo predicts.

"Our clients in the food and beverage industry have started to focus on healthier and higher quality products including gelato," Robert Melillo, president, White Hat Marketing, LLC explains. "Marketing a great tasting product that is low in fat, carbohydrates and calories makes our job easier and gelato seems poised to jump significantly in sales," Melillo states.

Ian Skawinski, a successful gelato shop owner in Europe, announced the launching of GelatoPro.com. The website for Gelato Pro Consulting offers entrepreneurs interested in the ice cream industry and the gelato industry a portal into the services provided by the consulting firm.

"We offer full consulting services including how to start and operate a successful gelato business, ice cream business or ice cream franchise," Skawinski explains. "Many people are surprised to learn that it is less expensive and more profitable to open a new shop rather than buy an ice cream franchise. In fact the investment is sometimes almost half of what is required to buy an ice cream franchise," Skawinski continues.

Ice cream franchises enjoyed great popularity in recent years. The ice cream industry is bracing for a cold front as Americans are demanding healthier options. With few gelato shops to be found the industry is expecting to see a flurry of activity as entrepreneurs seek to invest in the gelato industry.

"Investing in gelato shops is smart but only if it is done right," Skawinski states. "There is no sense of opening a gelato shop if you are not going to produce the gelato on site, otherwise manufacturers eat up nearly 90% of profits," Skawinski explains.

Gelato Pro Consulting also announced starting a campaign to bring in business investors for a series of gelato shops they are looking to open in Florida before going nationwide. Each gelato shop will be owned by the limited number of investors that will be allowed for each shop and be operated by Gelato Pro Consulting.

As many of America's restaurants and food suppliers begin to focus on healthier food alternatives the ice cream industry will face stiff competition from the gelato industry. Consumers may stop screaming for ice cream and start a love affair with gelato.
