Cruising In The Van Productions Utilizes a New System for Distributing Films While Earning Money

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2007 -- Cruising In The Van Productions has started generating revenue by uploading their short films on SMS.ac.

Meeting in high school, Co-founders Eric Green and Matthew Nerney began to dream and deliberate on their future film production company, Cruising In The Van Productions. Their first film, "To Be John Woo," was written by Green in a college script writing course and depicts the story of a film geek who indulges on films directed by the legendary John Woo. Through a twist of fate, he experiences the chance to live out the adventures like those had by his Hong Kong action heroes.
The short film was put together with a relatively low-budget and a cast made up of SAG and non-union talent. The 16mm short movie, which was completed in 2001, had a successful run on the film festival circuit including festivals in several areas of the US, Canada and Australia. In June of 2004, the International Festival of Cinema and Technology's World Tour named "To Be John Woo" Honorable Mention (3rd Place) for Best Student Short, but according to Green, the greatest honor was receiving a holiday greeting card from Mr. John Woo himself in 2005.
"To Be John Woo" and several other films by Cruising In A Van Productions are being streamed online around the world using a pay-per-view system developed by the San Diego based company, SMS.ac. SMS.ac's unique system uses a pay-per-view model that streams videos online to its 50 million member base of film & video enthusiasts. This allows "To Be John Woo" to generate revenue and exposure to SMS.ac's worldwide audience.
"As a filmmaker, this is an exciting way to have my work shown to an audience that can be anywhere at anytime and get instant feedback as well.
Film festivals are a great showcase, but this allows us to reach a much wider audience that doesn't have to be in one location at one particular time," says Green.
