Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 15, 2007
XooxleAnswers has announced its 2007 list of the Ten Best Research Sites on the Internet at http://www.xooxleanswers.com/topten.aspx
The Top Ten list of the internet's most useful tools is geared towards information professionals handling a wide variety of research topics, everything from business intelligence to American history to finding the best digital camera. The Top Ten list includes both well known sites and many obscure but tremendously useful resources.
Topping this year's list is Wikipedia.
David Sarokin, CEO of XooxleAnswers, put it simply: "Wikipedia is one of the best internet resources ever created, and a tremendous asset for researchers. It seems almost impossible that a user-created encyclopedia could have risen to the level of excellence that is Wikipedia...but the proof is in the pudding," said Sarokin.
The list focuses on researcher resources that are internet accessible, and available at no charge. It does not include routine search engines, but does include some specialty search functions from the likes of Amazon, Google and Yahoo.
"It's an idiosyncratic list," said Sarokin, "but I'm sure that researchers of all stripes -- students, librarians, market analysts, lawyers, professors, scientists, health researchers, historians, paralegals -- are going to find something of interest here".
The 2007 Top Ten List of the Most Useful Researcher Resources is:
1. Wikipedia
2. A9.com
3. Internet Archive
4. Making of America
5. Melissa Data
6. Google News Archive
7. USA.gov
8. ConsumerSearch
9. Public Libraries
10. Dun and Bradstreet Small Business Search
A number of "honorable mentions" sites are included as well.
