The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business was ranked the best business school in finance and economics, according to the 2007 Financial Times ranking of the world's top 100 business schools published in January.
The Number 1 ranking in finance and economics was based on alumni recommendations from each school. Chicago GSB also ranked Number 1 in finance and economics in the 2006 Financial Times survey. MBA graduates from the University of Chicago reported a 131 percent salary increase from the beginning of their studies to three years after graduation, according to the Financial Times survey.
Also in January, Tobias Moskowtiz, a professor of finance at Chicago GSB, received the Fischer Black Prize from the American Finance Association honoring the top finance scholar under age 40. The award was given only once before, in 2003, to Raghuram Rajan, also a professor of finance at Chicago GSB.
