Debut CD Released By Drag Queen Who Can't Mime To Save Her Life
Launch of debut CD 'Wine, Woman and Song' celebrates global USA distribution deal for Melbourne based cross-dressing singer-songwriter…and his twin sister Lulu.
(PRWEB) February 19, 2007 -- Melbourne's only drag queen act that can't mime to save her life, 'My Twin Sister Lulu', is thrilled to announce the release of her debut CD: 'Wine, Woman and Song'.
Now available through CD Baby, the largest seller of independent CDs on the web, it can be purchased online at www.lulufanclub.com/songs.htm
Lulu shows off her cheeky, eclectic cabaret credentials through unique and original tunes such as the cleverly constructed 'Little Miss Martyr' and the macabre 'Some People Like To' as well as the catchy '(We Shagged On The) Shag Pile Carpet'.
"'Why Did You Marry Such a Stupid Cow' is simply perfect for anyone who's ever hated their best friend's new spouse" says Lulu. Many of her songs end with a clever twist, while the wickedly funny '1967 Ford Cortina' silences even the most drunken of hecklers.
Describing his twin sister as selfish, arrogant, conceited, narcissistic and a spendthrift bitch, singer and guitarist Paddy McIvor is not surprised she had the audacity to claim the CD entirely as her own.
McIvor's critically acclaimed drag act 'My Twin Sister Lulu' emerged onto an unsuspecting Melbourne scene in 2002 from a previous incarnation: 'Paddy's Uncensored Cabaret'.
"I don't care if she does wrap her clear, Peter Gabriel-esque voice 'round a host of sharp little numbers on our debut CD," he says.
McIvor contributes other tracks including a haunting folksong for the new Millennium. In the best tradition of acoustic singer-songwriters, 'When I Leave London' is about a man with a guitar singing a gripping story through song.
Lulu remains disdainfully non-plussed about the twin brother she says is completely spineless and won't take any risks. Given the response by her adoring public, Paddy's dress sense matters little.
'My Twin Sister Lulu' demolishes political correctness. Audiences are often held spellbound and left roaring for more.
Jackie Rozenfeld of Southern FM, Melbourne says: "When Lulu performs, she not only connects with the audience, she reaches out, brain f*cks them and then elegantly returns them to their seats."
ABOUT 'MY TWIN SISTER LULU'
Raging about the general stupidity of people, 'My Twin Sister Lulu' blends erotic love songs with a veritable projectile regurgitation of angst, vitriol, anti-marriage, cross-dressing and heavy-drinking antics. From vegetarians to champagne-swilling socialists to banks - no-one is safe.
All delivered with the subtlety of a drunken bull jumping up and down on a punctured aerosol can.
On Twin Brother Paddy: "If he spent just one day off the bottle he might be able to get up off his ass and do something to harness his phenomenal musical talent."
ABOUT PADDY McIVOR
With an Honours Degree in Music from The University of London, England and live performances at successive Glastonbury Festivals, the former Belfast native was a regular on the London comedy circuit throughout the '90s.
Having recently become an Australian citizen, he has supported mainstream Australian comedy acts such as Jimeoin and Dave Hughes. Working regularly as a specialist voice-over artist, Paddy also wrote and performed an original song in the feature film 'Parallels', shown at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
On Twin Sister Lulu: "She doesn't have a driving licence, a tax file number or a passport - basically she doesn't exist… so how come most of my credit card statements are full of the names of numerous ladies' clothes and shoe shops?"
