AIGA Medalist Kit Hinrichs to Share Unique Insight About the Pentagram Papers

AIGA Los Angeles Welcomes AIGA Medalist and Pentagram Design Partner Kit Hinrichs to Share The History And Origins of The Pentagram Papers

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 20, 2007 -- The Los Angeles chapter of AIGA will welcome Pentagram partner Kit Hinrichs to discuss the Pentagram Papers at the Pacific Design Center on Thursday, March 15, 2007. The event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and includes a reception and book signing.

Since 1975, the partners of global design firm Pentagram have been publishing a series of impeccably-designed documents known as Pentagram Papers. Printed in extremely short runs and given privately to Pentagram's clients and friends, each Paper explores a unique and curious topic of interest to the Pentagram designers. A hardcover collection of the same name has been published by Chronicle Books, bringing together images and descriptions of all 35 Papers for the first time in history and including the 36th Pentagram Paper with the book itself.

AIGA Medalist and Pentagram partner Kit Hinrichs, designer of The Pentagram Papers, will provide a unique insight into the history and origin of the Pentagram Papers, the urban legends which swirl around this institution and the importance of the Papers to Pentagram's many designers.

Kit Hinrichs has been a partner of Pentagram Design since 1986 when his West Coast branch of the bicoastal association Jonson, Pedersen, Hinrichs & Shakery became Pentagram's San Francisco office. His instincts as a visual storyteller and a collector inform his work and his 3,000-piece-strong collection of American flags and American flag memorabilia has formed the basis of several exhibitions and two books. In 2004 he was awarded the profession's highest honor, the AIGA Medal, in recognition of his distinguished achievements and contributions to the field.

Advanced tickets priced from $10 to $35 are currently available to the public and AIGA members. Advanced tickets may be purchased by calling (818) 558-3968 or by visiting www.aigalosangeles.org/pentagrampapers. Tickets purchased at the door will be an additional $10.00. The AIGA/LA event will be held in the Pacific Design Center conference center, 8687 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood, CA 90069 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
