2007 Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship Results

2007 Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship comes to a close; champions crowned in seven divisions at second-annual event in Eagle River, Wisconsin; Bill Ford's Team Cheli's takes home second divisional title.

Eagle River, WI (PRWEB) February 21, 2007 -- Following three days of competition and 137 games featuring 80 teams and over 450 players, the second-annual Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship (http://www.labattblue.com) came to a close today. Champions were crowned in each of the seven no-check divisions.

"The concept of playing outdoors on a pond is what draws people to this event, but the atmosphere and camaraderie are what brings them back," said Ashley Bevan, director of adult hockey for USA Hockey. "Eagle River and its many volunteers once again did a phenomenal job hosting the event and helped make it a complete success."

DMP (Wakefield, R.I.) captured the Gold division, while Flying Wombats (Marquette, Mich.) took home the 21 & Over Silver championship and SNH #1 (Brownstown, Mich.) captured the 21 & Over Bronze title.

Meanwhile, Range Beverage II (Eagle River, Wis.) was crowned champion of the 30 & Over Silver division, Chaos (Chicago, Ill.) captured the 30 & Over Bronze division, Team Cheli's (Allen Park, Mich.) took home the 40 & Over Open championship and Pylons (Ann Arbor, Mich.) earned the Novice division title.

The event also featured a skills challenge event, Labatt Blue-sponsored gatherings and a speech from Labatt Blue president Glen Walter.

NOTES: The second-annual Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship featured 80 teams representing 14 states from across the country, including Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Rhode Island and Wisconsin … The Lucky Ducks (Delafield, Wis.) became the first all-female team to compete in the Labatt Blue USA Hockey Pond Hockey Championship … U.S. Olympian Dave Jensen and former U.S. Women's National Team member Michele Amidon, who is USA Hockey's director of women's hockey operations, were among the participants in the event.
