South Hadley, MA (PRWEB) February 20, 2007 -- Tara Brach, Ph. D., will speak at Mount Holyoke College about her book and teachings on March 1. Dr. Brach is the author of Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life with the Heart of a Buddha (Bantam, 2003). This event is free and open to the public. Voluntary donations are welcome. Dr. Brach will speak in Hooker Auditorium at 7pm.

Radical Acceptance is the capacity to see clearly what is happening in the moment, and to accept what we see with love. In our culture, one of the deepest forms of suffering is the pain of feeling that 'something is wrong with me'. When not faced, this deep insecurity keeps us at war with ourselves, and gives rise to the intolerance and violence that so plagues our world today. Whether in the shape of chronic judgment, depression or addictive behavior, feelings of deficiency prevent us from living and loving fully.

As we cultivate these qualities of mindfulness and compassion, the trance of unworthiness lifts. Radical Acceptance awakens us from the grip of our human insecurity and reveals our Buddha nature--the loving awareness that is our very essence.

Tara Brach is founder and senior teacher of the Insight Meditation Community of Washington (DC), and teaches Buddhist meditation at centers in the US and Canada. A clinical psychologist, she teaches extensively on the application of Buddhist teachings to emotional healing.

This event is sponsored by Buddhists in Gathering of Mount Holyoke College and supported by the Insight Meditation Center of Pioneer Valley. Serving Western Massachusetts, Insight PV is a non-residential Buddhist retreat center in the Theravadin Buddhist Tradition. Our mission is to share the Buddha's teaching of liberation from suffering with all those who want to sustain and deepen their practice. Learn more at http://www.insightpv.org
