Accelerated Business Intelligence with Palo
Multidimensional Processing of Excel data for Analysis, Planning and Reporting -- Palo Server 1.5 (Open Source) with triple speed -- MOLAP Database by Jedox offers "Single point of Truth" for Excel Applications.
Freiburg, Germany (PRWEB) February 23, 2007 -- German-based Jedox GmbH has released the new version 1.5 of their Palo Server for free download (www.palo.net). The Open Source database which uses the MOLAP technology offers multidimensional processing of Excel data. Apart from that, Palo introduces a centralized data storage for Excel applications which are distributed across the enterprise. Palo thus offers instruments which, following Jedox's information, are apt for complex tasks around Business Intelligence (BI), at the same time making use of Excel's versatility.
Palo 1.5 offers triple speed compared to the previous release 1.0. Additional new features are a sophisticated user rights management and enhanced functionality for multidimensional data analysis and planning. Additional features for the modeling of hierarchical data structures extend the available options for top down planning.
Especially organisations with co-workers who are particularly experienced in the use of Microsoft Excel will benefit from the Palo Server: The Open Source database with its multi-dimensional data model increases Excel's potential dramatically, especially when it comes to parameterised analysis and reports. Palo comes with an interface to Jedox's Supervision Server which will meet the requirements of business critical IT (IT Governance, Spreadsheet Compliance, Sarbanes-Oxley-Act). Supervision Server will be available in spring 2007.
"With our Enterprise Technologies for Excel, companies can now set up individual analysis of their available figures and distribute them for planning and reporting purposes. In this concept, the Palo Server links Excel applications which are spread all over the enterprise to only one data pool, which follows the Single Point of Truth concept," says Kristian Raue, Jedox's CEO. One advantage is in the short time required for implementation: "By installing the Palo Server, users have the power of a multidimensional database at their disposal from one day to the next. Beyond that, they still benefit from Excel's versatility and user friendliness to which they are used", Kristian Raue adds.
The German Chamber Network (DIHK, Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag e.V.) already makes use of these advantages. The DIHK uses Palo as a centralized controlling cockpit for their chambers abroad. Additionally, the DIHK installed Jedox's Worksheet-Server in order to connect 120 offices in 80 countries all over the world online to one Palo Server.
While Palo Server 1.5 can be downloaded free of charge under www.palo.net, the Worksheet-Server is a commercial product for the implementation of server based Excel-to-Web solutions which can be accessed using any of the common web browsers.
Altana Pharma Deustchland GmbH also makes use of Worksheet-Server together with Palo. Based on a catalogue of centrally defined Key Performance Indicators, Altana measure the performance of their sales organisation which consists of more than 400 regions. Altana use a Palo based scorecard application to register, analyse and distribute information on current trends.
Since a short period of time, another scorecard application has been implemented at the German Compass Group subsidiary Eurest Deutschland GmbH. Data input from more than 800 staff restaurants together with data from Eurest's SAP system are being consolidated and analysed online.
The Jedox GmbH supports their clients with rapid implementation for the smooth daily use of their Enterprise Spreadsheet applications.
