PIER System Adds SMS Capability to Full-Spectrum Communication Services
Recent update allows customers to receive notifications on mobile devices.
Bellingham, WA (PRWEB) February 26, 2007 -- AudienceCentral, Inc., provider of the innovative online communications platform PIER (Public Information and Emergency Response), today announced the addition of Short Message Service (SMS) to its capabilities. This functionality allows PIER users in the field or close to a computer to receive short text notifications on their cell phone and text pager mobile devices.
"Today's environment of immediacy requires the ability to communicate instantly using multiple modes. As a result, PIER customers are becoming increasingly interested in the platform's notification features," said Gerald Baron, President and CEO of AudienceCentral. "SMS is one more way that PIER allows stakeholders and audiences to receive urgent and critical information."
Users of PIER have access to a number of push, pull and interactive communication tools. These features make sure messages are managed and communicated as accurately and efficiently as possible. SMS is the latest of PIER's "push" communication capabilities, which include email, fax and text-to-voice telephone messaging at a rate of 100,000 calls per hour. SMS adds additional benefits to this mix of distribution methods, including:
· Durability - message doesn't disappear when the user hangs up a phone, but is typically accessible until the user manually deletes the notification.
· Readability - message is accessible by the hearing-impaired.
· Clarity - message is less subject to misinterpretation than audio format.
· Specificity - text message allows for more specific details than what is usually included in audio notifications.
"PIER remains the only full spectrum on-demand communication management platform available," said Baron. "By offering SMS capabilities to our customers, we're ensuring that critical communications are maintained. This recent enhancement to PIER underscores our commitment to that end."
SMS was made available February 14, 2007 to all current PIER users. Customers are not required to upgrade their service to access this new capability.
PIER is a widely adopted communication platform used by large federal agencies, including the US Coast Guard, many major oil companies, universities, schools, member associations, manufacturers, city and county governments, and multi-jurisdictional government agencies.
