San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 27, 2007 -- Every year, more taxpayers are utilizing the Internet for tax refund status inquiries. There are a few different options for checking refund status online; some of these include the Where is My Refund tool on the government site, the IRS TeleTax System and the IRS Refund Hotline. All options are accessible through the IRS.com website.
An interactive tool created by the IRS, the Where is My Refund tool allows tax payers to type in information such as a social security number, filing status and amount of refund. This is a secure, easy and fast way to access refund status information. Taxpayers will receive one of the following replies: acknowledgement return was received and is being processed, the mailing or deposit date of the refund or notification the refund was returned because of inadequate address information.
Other tax refund status options involve contacting the IRS TeleTax System at 1-800-829-4477 or the IRS Refund Hotline at 1-800-829-1954. The IRS TeleTax System requires specific personal information you will need to input such as social security number, filing status and refund amount. Taxpayers must wait at least four weeks after your return was filed to contact the IRS TeleTax System of which is updated every weekend. If you choose to contact the IRS Refund Hotline expect that you may be put on hold during tax season--most people will have the same idea and will be checking their refund status. The IRS Refund Hotline offers taxpayers the opportunity to speak with an IRS representative and is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. during the week and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
"We understand it's important to request updated tax refund status information from a reliable source because tax information needs to be obtained securely," comments IRS.com representative Robert Hoult. IRS.com provides all of the necessary tax refund status inquiry information on one site so users aren't skipping from one unreliable site to another in search of the necessary numbers or online tools they need.
