Famed Gordonstoun School Announces New York Performances Of Macbeth: That Old Black Magic

Scotland's renowned Gordonstoun School today announced a series of New York performances of Macbeth: that old black magic, a bold, brash Shakespeare-influenced performance inspired by the blues songs of Frank Sinatra. Schedule Includes Free Performance at NYU and a Benefit Performance in Park Slope. Gordonstoun has an impressive alumni list including Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.

Scotland and New York, NY (PRWEB) February 28, 2007 -- Scotland's renowned Gordonstoun School today announced a series of New York performances of Macbeth: that old black magic, a bold, brash Shakespeare-influenced performance inspired by the blues songs of Frank Sinatra. Directed by Gordonstoun Drama Director Nigel Williams, the cast of 18 actors, musicians and singers, aged 16-18, promises a unique theatrical experience. Reviewers have described it as "a fast moving and dynamic show with a live band performing Sinatra songs as an ironic commentary on the action of the play."

Gordonstoun is a member of the Round Square, a world-wide association of over 50 schools on five continents, and has an impressive alumni list including Prince Charles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. Founded in 1933, the school is highly regarded throughout Europe for presenting Shakespeare productions of the highest quality. Its 2003 performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream was awarded Best Shakespeare at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Macbeth performance will be no exception.

Two key performances in the schedule include a free performance at NYU's Steinhardt School of Education Black Box Theatre, on Wednesday, March 21st, and a show on Friday, March 23rd at M.S. 51 William Alexander School in Park Slope that benefits the Gordonstoun American Foundation, a scholarship foundation for the Gordonstoun International Summer School, as well as M.S. 51. The Gordonstoun International Summer School courses take place in July and August each year with the goal of helping students extend their international experience and understanding of boys and girls from different countries and cultures.
