Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials Grant Provides $30,000 for Newark (DE)-Area Youth Programs; 2007 Applications Due April 6

Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials is now accepting applications for its 2007 Community Partnership Initiative Grant, which supports youth programs in the Newark, Delaware, area. To date, Rohm and Haas has committed $90,000 to young people in Newark through the initiative.

Newark, DE (PRWEB) February 28, 2007 -- Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials is now accepting applications for its Community Partnership Initiative, which will provide $30,000 in funding for a selected youth program in the Newark area in 2007.

Non-profit organizations are invited to a Request for Proposal Conference on Monday, March 5 at 12:30 p.m. at Rohm and Haas, 451 Bellevue Road, Building 9, in Newark. Programs must target youth in Greater Newark, specifically, the area from the C&D Canal, the Delaware/Maryland state line, and Route 7. Applications must be received by April 6.

This is the third year Rohm and Haas has offered the grant in Newark. Junior Achievement was awarded the first grant in 2005 to provide the Enterprise Village curriculum to 5th graders in the Christina School District. The 2006 grant was awarded to the Greater Newark Boys and Girls Club to launch the Positive Place Cafe.

"We couldn't be more pleased with the results of the initiative," said Tom Pilla, vice president of Operations for Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials. "Junior Achievement and the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Newark are doing terrific work for young people and we look forward to seeing how we can continue to support innovative programs through the Community Partnership Initiative in 2007."

The Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials Community Advisory Committee, which is made up of volunteer representatives from the Newark area, makes the grant decisions and ensures the Initiative targets the areas of greatest need through periodic needs assessment surveys of local community leaders.
