St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) February 28, 2007 -- Forget CSI. People aged 8 through 80 can learn how to catch a criminal using real-life techniques, like those described in Forensic Science textbooks.
The Science Center of Pinellas County is embracing science once again and helping spread interest in a subject that is well-loved by Hollywood: Forensic Science. The Science Center is offering a presentation that will cover everything from drug testing, to trace evidence, fire residue, toxicology, and DNA evidence.
"I have investigated many high profile cases over the years," says volunteer speaker Kevin Lothridge, who is the Executive Director of the National Forensic Science Technology Center. "One of the most famous cases I've worked on is the Jim and Tammy Faye Baker mansion fire in South Carolina."
Lothridge also ran the Pinellas County Crime Lab for 14 years and worked for the National Institute of Justice.
On Saturday, March 10, 2007, he will be speaking at the Science Center of Pinellas County. His hour-long lecture will include stories from his past and information that is more riveting and realistic then any television show.
"I enjoy providing support to the nation's crime laboratories so they can better assist in ensuring public safety," says Lothridge who will be providing free a CD-ROM on DNA analysis to all who attend his lecture series at the Science Center.
This event begins at 1:00 p.m. and is free for Science Center members or $6 for perspective members. A reception for Mr. Lothridge will immediately follow the presentation.
