NEW YORK, NY (PRWEB) February 27, 2007 -- BreakThru Radio (BTR), the Internet's voice of the World's Best Independent Music, is pleased to announce the "Boompa Records Show" from DJ Laura C Chord. The "Boompa Records Show" is a brand new specialty show featuring music from the artists on the Boompa Records label.
"What really draws me to Boompa is the quality of the musicians on the label, and the fact that they are artists representing artists," explains DJ Laura C Chord. "The co-founders Scott Walker and Rob Calder show a genuine love for music. Their excitement for the bands they sign makes other people, including myself, want to get excited too!"
DJ Laura C Chord hails from Canada and has been hosting and producing a specialty show on BTR called "The Scenic Route" since November. She discovered Boompa Records when bandmates Scott Walker and Rob Calder of indie-pop band the Salteens created the label in 2003.
"I had been a fan of the band The Salteens for quite some time," she says. "Their amazing energy and ability to create songs that make me smile led me to tell all of my friends about them. When I heard that they were creating their own record label in 2003, I was really pumped to see what kind of artists they would sign."
DJ Laura C Chord was thrilled when artist Catlow released her debut album "Kiss the World" on the label in 2005. She began paying attention to more and more of the Boompa artists
"I felt that it was important to showcase a label that I had a strong connection with. Since its inception, Boompa's lineup has continued to impress me," says DJ Laura C Chord. "I played a lot of the Boompa artists on my shows when I was doing university radio, and I am really excited to be sharing them with the BTR audience."
Some of the show's highlights include the band Small Sins, whose song "Threw It All Away," is a favorite of DJ Laura C Chord's. Also featured on the show are the Hylozoists, a band made up of a established Canadian musicians from bands such as Final Fantasy, Cuff the Duke and the Weakerthans.
Boompa Records, an indie label from Canada, offers a lineup of amazing artists. The label was founded in 2003 by Scott Walker and Rob Caulder, both members of the indie-pop band the Salteens. The pair was looking for a way to help their both themselves and their friends' bands and decided to form their own label. Boompa Records now boosts an impressive roster with artists such as Catlow, Sekiden, Matt Sharp and Lullaby Baxer. Other artists on the table such as the Hylozoists, Leeroy Stagger and Small Sins are performing at music festival South By Southwest (SXSW) in March.
"We pick artists that we think people can get excited about, and that others will react to," said Scott Walker.
In addition to having three artists playing in SXSW, this year Boompa Records has two new acts being signed and a new released expected from the Salteens. BTR is very pleased to welcome the Boompa Records lineup. DJ Laura C Chord's hour long specialty show featuring the Boompa roster can be found in the media player at www.breakthruradio.com.
