National Instruments LabVIEW Receives 2007 'Test of Time' Award from Test & Measurement World Magazine

Test & Measurement World has selected National Instruments LabVIEW as the 2007 "Test of Time" award winner. First released in 1986, NI LabVIEW challenged traditional approaches to programming with intuitive graphical development similar to flowcharting. This technology set the stage for virtual instrumentation by helping engineers and scientists customize measurement systems to suit their needs.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) February 28, 2007 -- National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) today announced that editors from Test & Measurement World selected LabVIEW as the 2007 "Test of Time" award winner. National Instruments received the award, which recognizes the continuous high quality and efficiency of the LabVIEW graphical programming environment, during the Test & Measurement World award ceremony on Feb. 21 at the annual APEX Show in Los Angeles.

"Just over 20 years ago, we set out on a quest to do for test and measurement what the spreadsheet had done for financial analysis," said Dr. James Truchard, president and CEO of National Instruments. "The result was LabVIEW -- a graphical programming environment that has stood the test of time for test and measurement applications and gone on to become a graphical system design tool for designing and prototyping complex systems for deployment in industrial applications."

First released in 1986, National Instruments LabVIEW challenged traditional approaches to programming with intuitive graphical development similar to flowcharting. This technology set the stage for virtual instrumentation by helping engineers and scientists customize measurement systems to suit their needs. Over the last 20 years, the NI LabVIEW graphical programming platform has revolutionized the development of scalable test, measurement and control applications. LabVIEW has evolved from a desktop data acquisition and instrument control tool into an integrated test, control and design platform for industrial, embedded and handheld solutions.

With its flexible, open platform, LabVIEW continues to deliver productivity to engineers and scientists facing increasingly complex application needs. The latest version, LabVIEW 8.20, adds native support for text-based math with MathScript, brings significant improvements in control design and simulation performance and accelerates development of real-time system prototypes using standard PCs, FPGAs or custom designs. Today, LabVIEW is recognized as a leading graphical programming platform.

The "Test of Time" award was established in 2005 by Test & Measurement World editors as a way to recognize products that continue to provide state-of-the-art performance for at least five years after being introduced. National Instruments joins Agilent Technologies Inc. and Keithley Instruments, Inc. as the first three companies to receive the honor.
