Mommy-invented MyPacifier™ Personalized Pacifiers are celebrating their one-year anniversary of an event-filled first year of spectacular growth in the USA. One year ago today, the company that invented personalized pacifiers opened shop in America with their online store, MyPacifier™ Personalized Pacifiers have enjoyed phenomenal acceptance from parents across the United States in the relatively short time since they were introduced. Even more new products have been introduced along the way to add to their appeal.

Most parents have experienced the pacifier problem. Children's pacifiers get lost at day care or end up in other children's mouths, spreading germs and causing ownership mix-ups. With MyPacifiers™, your child's personal name is permanently engraved on the pacifier. The pacifier problem is solved.

The invention came about when a young mother in Denmark experienced "the pacifier problem." Pia Callesen, the Danish mother and creator of MyPacifier, says "When I went to day care to pick up my son Frederik, more often than not I found that his pacifier had disappeared and Frederik had another child's pacifier in his mouth. I began searching for a pacifier product with a name on it, but I got the same answer in all the shops, 'buy a permanent marker pen and write his name on the pacifier.' I thought it should be possible for all parents to buy a quality pacifier with their child's name engraved on it. Apart from looking good, it could then also survive repeated sterilization."

Pia Callesen went on to invent the personalized pacifier, something she thought was sorely needed for mothers everywhere. Callesen spent months researching to find the right mix of a quality pacifier and the best-possible engraving equipment. "Since its launch in Denmark under the name, there has been great interest in MyPacifier," says Callesen. "When my family in California heard about my idea and how popular it was becoming, they decided that the time was right for personalized pacifiers to come to the United States. In partnership with, Kim and Carol Pedersen of Fremont, California made MyPacifier available to all American parents via their website shop,"

"Since opened for business, we have gotten many wonderful, positive responses from our customers," says Carol Pedersen, co-owner of Carol's husband and co-owner, Kim Pedersen, says, "We get fantastic e-mail from mothers thanking us and telling us what a great invention my cousin created with personalized pacifiers." has gotten attention beyond satisfied parents and babies during its first year. A MyPacifier Party was held in April of 2006 to announce the new product to the USA market. Dozens of parents brought their babies to a popular lakeside park in Fremont, California, to get complimentary MyPacifiers with their babies names already imprinted on them. In exchange, gained a wealth of photographs of the cute babies testing out their new MyPacifiers. The Fremont Argus newspaper featured the event shortly thereafter with a large photo of one of the babies, which was the first press attention for in the USA.

Attention quickly grew to the national spotlight. That same month, MyPacifiers were shown on national television on The Tony Danza Show when Tony Danza proudly put his grandson Nicholas on the show with a MyPacifier in his mouth. Audience members oohed and ahhed and asked Danza where he got them. was then invited to take part in Madison and Mulholland's Ultimate Nominee Gift Bags.
