Most parents have experienced the pacifier problem. Children's pacifiers get lost at day care or end up in other children's mouths, spreading germs and causing ownership mix-ups. With MyPacifiers™, your child's personal name is permanently engraved on the pacifier. The pacifier problem is solved.
The invention came about when a young mother in Denmark experienced "the pacifier problem." Pia Callesen, the Danish mother and creator of MyPacifier, says "When I went to day care to pick up my son Frederik, more often than not I found that his pacifier had disappeared and Frederik had another child's pacifier in his mouth. I began searching for a pacifier product with a name on it, but I got the same answer in all the shops, 'buy a permanent marker pen and write his name on the pacifier.' I thought it should be possible for all parents to buy a quality pacifier with their child's name engraved on it. Apart from looking good, it could then also survive repeated sterilization."
Pia Callesen went on to invent the personalized pacifier, something she thought was sorely needed for mothers everywhere. Callesen spent months researching to find the right mix of a quality pacifier and the best-possible engraving equipment. "Since its launch in Denmark under the name Navnesutten.dk, there has been great interest in MyPacifier," says Callesen. "When my family in California heard about my idea and how popular it was becoming, they decided that the time was right for personalized pacifiers to come to the United States. In partnership with Navnesutten.dk, Kim and Carol Pedersen of Fremont, California made MyPacifier available to all American parents via their website shop, MyPacifier.com."
"Since MyPacifier.com opened for business, we have gotten many wonderful, positive responses from our customers," says Carol Pedersen, co-owner of MyPacifier.com. Carol's husband and MyPacifier.com co-owner, Kim Pedersen, says, "We get fantastic e-mail from mothers thanking us and telling us what a great invention my cousin created with personalized pacifiers."
MyPacifier.com has gotten attention beyond satisfied parents and babies during its first year. A MyPacifier Party was held in April of 2006 to announce the new product to the USA market. Dozens of parents brought their babies to a popular lakeside park in Fremont, California, to get complimentary MyPacifiers with their babies names already imprinted on them. In exchange, MyPacifier.com gained a wealth of photographs of the cute babies testing out their new MyPacifiers. The Fremont Argus newspaper featured the event shortly thereafter with a large photo of one of the babies, which was the first press attention for MyPacifier.com in the USA.
Attention quickly grew to the national spotlight. That same month, MyPacifiers were shown on national television on The Tony Danza Show when Tony Danza proudly put his grandson Nicholas on the show with a MyPacifier in his mouth. Audience members oohed and ahhed and asked Danza where he got them.
MyPacifier.com was then invited to take part in Madison and Mulholland's Ultimate Nominee Gift Bags. Madison & Mulholland, the premier VIP gift bag and product placement company based in New York City, prepared Ultimate TV Nominee Bags for Emmy attendees like Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria and the rest of the 'Desperate Housewives'; Sandra Oh and other 'Grey's Anatomy' residents; several 'Lost' castaways, Hugh Laurie, Adrian Grenier and 24's Kiefer Sutherland. MyPacifier.com was invited to be in the gift bags because Madison & Mulholland searches for the latest unique products that will bring about "oohs and ahhs" from the receiving Emmy nominees.
The Ultimate Nominee Gift Bags led to even more Hollywood attention when MyPacifier.com participated in the first-ever charity event held on the Universal Studios Wisteria Lane set for one of television's hottest shows, "Desperate Housewives." PADRES Contra El Cáncer, a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life for Latino children with cancer and their families, held their annual El Sueño de Esperanza (Dream of Hope) Gala on September 6, 2006. PADRES National Spokesperson and Event Chair, Eva Longoria, welcomed celebrity guests and industry executives to the "Desperate Housewives" Wisteria Lane set at Universal Studios, Hollywood for the black-tie fundraiser. MyPacifier.com collected autographs on a framed poster of the company's official personalized pacifier test baby, Mason Redmond. Celebrities that signed the one of a kind poster include: George Lopez, comedian and star of TV; Mario Lopez, star of "Saved by the Bell" and "Dancing with the Stars"; Adrian Bellani, star of TV's "Passions" series; Brenda Strong, Joy Lauren and Andrea Bowen of "Desperate Housewives"; Matthew Underwood and Victoria Justice, stars of Nickelodeon's "Zoey 101"; Carlos Mencia, comedian; Marion Ramsey, from "Police Academy'; Denise Rich, songwriter and well-known socialite; Dick Van Patten from "Eight is Enough"; James Van Patten, TV and movie star; Cristina Pérez of "Cristina's Court"; Corina Villaraigosa, wife of L.A.'s mayor; Katrina Smirnoff of "Dancing with the Stars" and others! The poster was auctioned off online and MyPacifier donated 100% of the winning bid went to PADRES Contra El Cáncer.
In late fall of 2006, Orca Communications of Phoenix, Arizona invited MyPacifier.com to be part of their annual Best Products Media Guide. This honor rewarded MyPacifier.com with much national and local exposure through several venues including Parenting.com, the website of America's #1 parent magazine. Orca continues to represent MyPacifier.com in 2007 and is currently beginning a six-business exclusive Fabulous Female Entrepreneurs campaign featuring MyPacifiers.
In January of 2007 MyPacifiers got even more exposure to the American public when Costco Connection Magazine published an article on the Pedersens and their pacifiers in their Member Connection segment. With an eye-catching image of the Pedersens "buried" in MyPacifiers, business surged to remarkable new heights. More press is expected in the near future, as the clever product is capturing the hearts of Moms and Dads across the USA. Even with all the press attention, word of mouth remains MyPacifier.com's best advertising tool, as parents are telling parents in growing numbers. People see them on babies in public and excitedly ask the parents "where did you get those?"
The MyPacifier™ Personalized Pacifier is a wonderful product for day care, or wherever pacifiers end up on the floor and don't always end up in the right mouth afterwards. Day care staff and parents can now see the child's name on the personalized pacifier, putting an end to mix-ups and reducing the sharing of germs and bacteria. MyPacifiers also solve the problem of disappearing pacifiers, as each MyPacifier is easily recognizable.
MyPacifier is a quality European-produced product, approved by the American Consumer Standards Association and certified to EN Standard 1400. MyPacifiers come in sizes for infants, 0-3 months, and for children up to 36 months old. MyPacifiers can be purchased on the Internet at MyPacifier.com. They are available in packs of three for only $15 plus $3 shipping and handling, a very low price considering that they are a custom-made one-of-a-kind product. Discounts are given to those purchasing more than one packet of three.
MyPacifiers are also now available in a greater variety of colors and styles, and with either silicone or latex nipples. There is room for up to two lines of text on each MyPacifier. At MyPacifier.com, you can preview just how a child's name will look when engraved on one of MyPacifiers for free, before placing an order.
Since the business involves custom imprinting of one-of-a-kind personalized MyPacifiers, it usually takes about two weeks to imprint, import and mail them to customers. However, because of the huge number of inquiries by customers wanting to obtain MyPacifiers quickly for an upcoming baby shower gift, or when customers don't know the baby's name but want to give something unique, MyPacifier.com has introduced Gift-Ready MyPacifiers. Gift-Ready MyPacifiers are in stock and ready to ship with cute sayings already imprinted on them. Gift-Ready choices include 'Mute Button', 'Class of 2025', 'Grandma's Angel', 'I Love Daddy', 'I Love Mommy', 'My Aunt Rocks', 'Party at my crib' and 'My Name is "No No"', as well as other smile-inducing phrases. Customers can e-mail MyPacifier.com for a full list of Gift-Ready MyPacifiers (e-mail address available at Contact Us page). MyPacifier.com also stocks the top 100 baby names of the USA in their infant and orthodontic MyPacifiers. All others can be custom imprinted and in the mouths of babies in approximately two weeks.
MyPacifiers make a great gift, as well as a wonderful keepsake. The Pedersens expect year two to be even more phenomenal than the first.
