BoatersBasement.com Supports Water Conservancy Efforts

Fast up-and-coming boating community website BoatersBasement.com dives into conservation efforts for the better of the boating community and mother nature.

Grand Rapids, MI (PRWEB) March 1, 2007 -- Responsible boaters realize the importance of preserving and conserving the beautiful waters from which they derive so much pleasure.

In recognition of the fragility of the open waters, marine ecosystems, and the Great Lakes in particular, BoatersBasement.com has contributed to several conservancy and promotional organizations dedicated to water preservation and boating awareness.

M. Brandon Bissell, BoatersBasement.com president, explains why his company has joined these conservation organizations. "Being located in Michigan, the Great Lakes state and coming from a family that has long enjoyed boating, supporting these organizations is a natural expression of our gratitude for the pleasure that boating brings me and my family, as well as countless boaters throughout the world who visit our website."

BoatersBasement.com has joined Great Lakes Forever, MarineBio.org, The National Coalition for Marine Conservation, The Ocean Conservancy and Grow Boating.

Created to raise awareness of the value and vulnerability of the Great Lakes, Great Lakes Forever is a public education program launched in 2004 by the Wisconsin-based Biodiversity Project. In 2005, Great Lakes Forever gained the support of the John G. Shedd Aquarium and other Chicago and regional partners.

MarineBio.org is a nonprofit volunteer organization comprised of marine biologists, students, professors and conservation advocates. Since 1998, these champions of the seas have worked to share the wonders of the ocean realm to inspire education, research, ocean life, marine biology and marine conservation.

The National Coalition for Marine Conservation is the USA's oldest public advocacy group dedicated exclusively to conserving ocean fish and their environment by building public awareness of the threats to our marine fisheries, providing constructive solutions, and convincing state, national and international fishery managers to take appropriate action to reverse the overfishing effects on marine fish.

Through research, education and science-based advocacy, The Ocean Conservancy promotes healthy and diverse ocean ecosystems and opposes practices that threaten ocean life and human life, by informing, inspiring and empowering people to speak and act on behalf of the oceans. In all its work, they strive to be the world's foremost advocate for the oceans.

Grow Boating is an industry-wide integrated initiative created to improve the boating experience. Businesses within the marine industry have come together to raise awareness for boating, providing information through the Discover Boating program.

BoatersBasement.com is proud to be a member of these organizations that work toward educating boaters and preserving our beautiful waters, and supports the efforts of these groups by not only providing funding but also links from the BoatersBasement.com website, its monthly customer e-newsletter, and blogs from within their BoatersCommunity portion (http://marketplace.boatersbasement.com/cs/) of the website.

If you have further questions or would like to learn more about these groups, you can do so by visiting their websites from the BoatersBasement.com Conservancy pages -- http://www.boatersbasement.com/ConservationEfforts.asp.
