(PRWEB) March 2, 2007 -- Nature Publishing Group (NPG) announces the launch of Nature Network (http://network.nature.com), a new free online networking website for scientists worldwide. This Web 2.0 toolkit will help scientists everywhere to meet like-minded researchers, hold online discussions, showcase their work via personal homepages, share information with groups (open or private) and tag content. Participation is free to all, requiring little more than nature.com registration. User-driven upgrades will roll out regularly from now on.

"I'm delighted that we can further our commitment to stimulating and facilitating scientific communication and collaboration in such an innovative, accessible and democratic way," says Timo Hannay, NPG's Web Publishing Director.

Nature Network also features local hubs, offering all the global tools plus area news, features, blogs, jobs and events. The first local site is Nature Network Boston (http://network.nature.com/boston), trialed in beta over the past eight months, and now rolling out major new features alongside the global platform. Nature Network Boston supports, celebrates and connects scientists in the city, with rich editorial coverage of Boston-area research and researchers, Boston bloggers, a calendar of Boston-area lectures, seminars and conferences and listings of Boston-area jobs for scientists.

Coming March 2007, the second hub, Nature Network London (http://network.nature.com/london) will be a free online meeting point for scientists in the London area. Like Nature Network Boston, the site will offer all the global networking tools, as well as daily commissioned, contributed and curated content, London bloggers, professional and public events listings and the best of London's science jobs.
