Gentle Giant Moving Company, the premier residential mover in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Virginia, has released the results from its 2006 customer survey which revealed a high percentage of usage among professional, single female consumers ages 31 to 55. Women comprise more than 70% of Gentle Giant's customer base, many as returning customers who look for efficiency, integrity, and reliability in choosing a mover.

Additional survey results showed:

  • 71% of female consumers relied on word of mouth, past experience(s), or a media award to identify a quality mover
  • 91% cited quality of service as the most important factor in booking a moving company
  • 83% cited the crew chief checking in with them throughout the move day as a "very meaningful" contributor to satisfaction with the service

Female survey respondents rated several Gentle Giant practices very highly, including hiring skilled, confident crew chiefs, a willingness by the crew to re-arrange furniture at the destination address, and the crew's high standards of cleanliness during the move day. "Our company takes the 'Gentle' part of its name very seriously and does everything possible to ensure a safe, effective, hassle-free move. We strive to offer the highest level of service on the market, something we believe is appreciated by all of our customers, men and women alike," said Gentle Giant President Larry O'Toole.

"The whole crew was friendly, polite, and quick! I'm a single woman - it was nice having a group of people you could trust in your home," said Gentle Giant customer Sheryl Skinner of North Carolina. Gentle Giant opened an office in Charlotte, NC in May 2006.

The demographics revealed in Gentle Giant's customer survey reflect a national trend.
