Revision Eyewear, developers of purpose-built military eyewear, is proud to announce that it will be supplying 85,000 Desert Locust Goggle kits to the U.S. Army for troops deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Following their extensive soldier trials, critical evaluations and laboratory tests, this commitment from the U.S. Army represents our first significant order for this new goggle," said Jonathan Blanshay, President, Revision Eyewear. "The focus behind all of our eyewear products is to exceed military standards for ballistic resistance and performance and this goggle is another best-in-class product from Revision. The Desert Locust Goggle provides maximum comfort, optical perfection, tactically superior field-of-view, and introduces Revision's OcuMax™ high performance, permanent anti-fog coating to ensure lenses remain fog-free in the most extreme conditions."

Commenting on the announcement that Revision has received this new contract, Senator Patrick Leahy said, "The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have once again proven that high-end ballistic eye protection is as important as body armor or helmets, and no soldier should deploy to a war zone without it. Revision Eyewear of Williston is producing a product the military clearly appreciates, that the soldiers deployed across the world gladly wear, and that the workforce here in Vermont proudly ships."

The Desert Locust Goggle offers exceptional ballistic protection with one-piece, optically correct polycarbonate lenses that are easily interchangeable (clear for day or night use and solar for high-intensity sunlight) and offer protection from harmful UV-A, UV-B, UV-C rays of the sun. Alternative high-impact specialty and laser-protective lenses are available by special order if required. For vision correction, the Desert Locust can hold an Rx Carrier that also clips easily into the Revision Sawfly Spectacle so that one Rx Carrier can be used with both types of protective eyewear.

The Desert Locust Goggle's low profile is compatible with weapons' sights, binoculars or night vision systems and fits securely over the various helmets in use around the globe. Lightweight, with a strong, virtually unbreakable yet flexible frame, the Desert Locust Goggle's adjustable elastic head strap keeps the eyewear firmly in place while providing maximum comfort for long-shift wear. The Desert Locust Goggle (fully Buy America and Berry Amendment compliant) is available in foliage green, desert tan or black. The goggle kit comes in its own case with an anti-reflective sleeve and micro-fiber lens storage pocket which can also be used as a cleaning cloth.

The Desert Locust U.S. Military Goggle Kit has been assigned National Stocking Numbers (NSN's) (NSN 4240-01-547-6218 Foliage Green; NSN 4240-01-547-6227 Black) and it is anticipated that the product will be added to the U.S. Army's Authorized Protective Eyewear List (APEL) imminently.

Forces in several other countries including the Netherlands, Malaysia and Canada currently have large trials and evaluations underway on the product and it is expected that the Desert Locust Goggle soon will be in demand on a worldwide basis giving soldiers the protection they require and deserve in today's hostile environments.
