Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 2, 2007
According to Jean Welles, foremost Worship Guitar Coach, "Creating and singing your very own worship song is one of the best ways to express your gratitude to our Creator." To encourage others to write their own Christ-centered Worship Songs, Welles is sponsoring three Worship Contests this March, for ages 17 and younger, ages 18 and older and another for songs of other languages. "The theme is centered around the cross and/or resurrection of Christ to help all of us appreciate more what He did for us," says Welles, who has helped over 100,000 people learn to play the guitar through private lessons and her worship guitar instructional series. "This contest is an opportunity to inspire people of all ages to start writing their own Worship Songs."
Throughout Scripture there are references about singing a new song. For example Psalm 33:3 says "Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy." In Ephesians 5:19, Paul tells us to "Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord." After being severely flogged, we find Paul and Silas praying and singing hymns in a jail that couldn't hold them, Acts 16.
Now guitarists have the opportunity to 'sing to Him a new song...' by submitting one song per contest. There are two age categories, 17 and younger or 18 and older. The song must be original and needs to include the theme of the cross and/or resurrection of Christ.
Songs may be sung a cappella or with instrumental accompaniments. The songs must be submitted by March 31st , 2007. The songs for the two age categories will be posted on http://www.worshipguitarclass.com/contest.html for people to listen to the songs and vote for their favorite. Songs will be posted on the website and voting will begin in the first week of April, 2007. Only one vote per computer will show up, to keep the voting fair.
First place winners will receive a Guitar, Case, Tuner and a set of the first three volumes of Jean Welles Worship Guitar Class(TM) DVD's. Second place winners will receive the 3 DVD's. The winning songs will stay posted at the site. All the kids songs and 12 of the adult songs will be posted and voted on in April.
