Let Your Wife Choose Your Phone (She'll Probably Choose What You Want Anyway)

Male/Female cell phone buying trends surprisingly similar, with the exception of color choice, reports MPhone of a new study on cell phone purchasing habits.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 6, 2007 -- Preliminary reports of studies done by MPhone online cell phone store comparing male and female cell phone purchasing habits seem to indicate that the greatest differences are in color choices, as opposed to the actual devices chosen. While the findings are non-scientific, the study is based on large numbers of consumers over long periods of time.

"We began to explore trends and purchasing patterns to help us develop our website to best suit our clientèle," states Senior Site Manager, Harry Novick. "We expected to see big differences in buying patterns when comparing age, gender and other factors. Instead, for example, out of a sampling of 114 Motorola Razr purchases, exactly 57 were made by men, and 57 were made by women. The differences were not in the device, but in the color!"

The report used for the purpose of this release is based on 291 orders made the last week of the 4th quarter of 2006. Other findings were that of all orders made, 15% of men ordered PDA phones, as opposed to slightly fewer than 10% of women making similar orders. Adds Novick, "While we know who is ordering the phones, our data does not indicate who is actually going to be carrying the phone. This may affect our results any number of ways."

What the report does indicate is that men are twice as likely to order black cell phones as women, whether for themselves or for someone else. Additionally, LG and Samsung seem to be more popular with men, while Nokia is more poplar with women. And of course the Motorola Razr remains the most popular of all for both.
