Survey Says Combined Treatment Successful in Treating Severe Arthritis Pain

Veterinarian Conducts Survey Proving Natural Joint Remedies Combined With Prescription Pain Relievers Eliminate Severe Arthritis Pain While Reducing Drug Side Effects. Survey Concludes that Pain Associated with Mild To Moderate Arthritis Can Be Successfully Treated Using Only Natural Remedies.

KINGSTON, NY (PRWEB) March 14, 2007 -- Dr. Thom Myers, DVM of Overgaard, Arizona recently revealed results of a survey on the effects combining a natural joint remedy with prescription pain relievers to relieve severe, even crippling arthritis pain in dogs. His goal was to document the safety and effectiveness of treating severe arthritis pain using combined therapies as opposed to using only prescription drugs, which can produce unwanted side effects in older more vulnerable dogs. Popular arthritis drug pain side effects can include liver damage, liver failure, even death.

A Veterinarian for more than 30 years, Dr. Myers has treated thousands of cases of arthritis. In this recent survey Dr. Myers recruited 14 dogs of different ages and breeds, all diagnosed with mild to severe arthritis. Treatment included a popular but relatively unknown natural joint remedy known as Petaprin™ and popular prescription drugs such as Rimadyl™, Etogesic™, and MetaCam™.

Over the course of a month Dr. Myers would prescribe Petaprin™ and then intervene with a prescription as needed until maximum results were achieved. During the survey dogs with early and middle stages of arthritis did not need intervention with prescription drugs and were back to normal using only the Petaprin™ product. He also noticed that dogs on the Petaprin™ did not experience any side effects. However, 20% of the dogs suffering from severe arthritis required ½ dose of a prescription reliever to achieve maximum results.

"Actual Test Results; 20% Early Stages of Arthritis- 100% Response, 90% were back to normal using only Petaprin™. 50% Middle Stages of Arthritis-100% Response, 80% were back to normal using only Petaprin. 30% Severe Arthritis-80% Response, 60% Needed No Other Medication, 20% needed a low dose of prescription medication."

According to Dr. Myers, "Roscoe, a thirteen year old mixed breed dog was in so much pain he was shaking involuntarily he could hardly stand up". Roscoe's treatment included a low dose of Rimadyl™ and a regular dose of Petaprin™. According to Dr. Myers, by the end of the survey "Roscoe was running and playing like a pup again."

Dr. Myers goes on to say that, "Petaprin™ is a wonderful, fast acting, safe, effective pain medication all by itself, but to maximize effectiveness, Petaprin™ can be used with lowered doses of other medications thus reducing potentially harmful side effects when compared to a full dose."

Dr. Thom Myers lives with his wife Kristy and seven dogs. They own and operate Overgaard Animal Hospital in Overgaard, AZ. Dr. Myers is available for interviews via phone by calling 928-535-5855.
